Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may be Samsung’s top foldable in one key area
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will reportedly launch with a notable display spec advantage over the rest of the range – and it might not be the one you were expecting.
It’s widely known that Samsung is going to launch a new book-style foldable option on 22 July. As its working title suggests, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will open up to form a much broader, more traditionally tablet-proportioned device.
This more native tablet experience might not be the only advantage to such an approach, however.
According to prolific Samsung leaker Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’s twin displays will also be the sharpest we’ve ever seen from Samsung’s full-sized foldable range.
Samsung’s new foldable is looking sharp
The tipster lays it all out in a helpful chart, demonstrating that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’s main internal screen will sport a 403 ppi (pixels per inch) density, while the cover display will hit 432 ppi.
By way of comparison, the current Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 hits 368 and 422 ppi respectively, while the limited-release Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold hits 268 and 422 ppi.
The new wider foldable should provide an almost 10% improvement in sharpness over the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s internal display, and a much smaller 2% improvement to the cover display.
We’re not talking a huge uptick in pixel density here, but Samsung will be wanting to claim every advantage possible ahead of its big fight with the iPhone Ultra.
