Gallery: Every smart home product Apple has just announced, from a video doorbell to a floodlight security camera

Apple has made a major push into the smart home market with Apple Home Collection, a new range of accessories made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, announced alongside an upgraded Apple TV 4K, HomePod Mini 2 and the new HomeView.

The Apple Home Collection covers cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, a video doorbell and a smart lock. Apple says everything is set up with a single tap from an iPhone and run through the Home app, with no separate app or account. All of it is end-to-end encrypted, so Apple, LG and Schneider can’t read the data.

Availability starts in December through online, the Apple Store app and Apple Store locations. Select accessories follow in early 2027.

Here’s everything in the range…

LG Camera on wall

Home monitoring

All four LG cameras record up to 2.5K video and recognise people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages. They need a home hub (HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K).

Footage is stored in your iCloud+ plan for 10 days, so there’s no separate camera subscription. Built-in storage keeps them recording if the Wi-Fi drops.

On eligible iCloud+ plans, Apple Intelligence adds automatic clip summaries and lets you search footage in natural language.

LG’s Video Doorbell Wired has two cameras, so you can switch between a front view of the visitor and a bottom view of any packages.

The front camera shoots 2.5K and the bottom one full HD. There’s also a built-in spotlight, and the chime plays through HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini. It comes in Essence Graphite or Essence Silver.

The LG Floodlight Cam is the most powerful perimeter-monitoring option, with adaptive dual floodlights that switch on automatically when motion is detected. Low-light colour night vision keeps footage clear in darker conditions. It comes in Essence Graphite or Essence Silver.

The Outdoor Cam Plug-In has the same low-light colour night vision as the Floodlight Cam but is designed for simple self-installation. It can be angled for flexible coverage, and comes in Essence Graphite or Essence Silver.

The privacy angle here is the real headline feature. The camera tilts up to look around when you check in, then tilts back down to stop monitoring as soon as the first member of the household gets home. You can also tilt it manually or from the Home app. It comes in Essence White.

LG lock on door

Home access

Cameras are only half of the front-door story. LG is also making a smart lock for Apple Home that uses Ultra Wideband to work out when you’re approaching, so your door can open before you’ve reached for your keys.

LG Smart Deadbolt Lock

LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband to sense when you’re approaching, and unlocks automatically if you have a home key on a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. If you’d rather not walk up hands-free, you can also tap an iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock, or use the integrated PIN pad, or use a hidden backup key slot

The lock senses whether the door has been opened, closed or tampered with, and warns you if the door is open even while locked. Guest access can be shared from the Home app, which suits dog walkers and house sitters.

Paired with the doorbell, it forms a front-door system. You can see who’s there, speak to them and unlock the door from a single view or by asking Siri. It’s Matter compatible and supports Aliro, and it works locally, so core access functions keep working without internet.

Home climate

Apple is launching two Smart Thermostats, one from LG and one from Schneider Electric, so buyers can pick whichever suits their wider energy setup.

Both are Matter compatible, DIY-friendly and work with a broad range of HVAC systems, with on-device wire detection to simplify installation.

LG’s model is the one for people who want to keep their heating and cooling within LG’s ecosystem. Like its Schneider counterpart, it uses Adaptive Temperature in the Home app, which uses on-device intelligence from iPhone to adjust the temperature based on whether you’re home, winding down for the night or away, with no manual scheduling.

Schneider’s thermostat is sold under the Schneider Home name, and CEO Olivier Blum says it’s a true collaboration with Apple. He pitches it as a way to manage home energy use while balancing efficiency and comfort. It also uses Adaptive Temperature, so there’s no manual scheduling here either.

The hubs

How do you control everything? The centre of your Apple smart home is either the new HomeView or the Apple TV 4K.

HomeView and Apple TV 4K

HomeView is a new smart home hub that works as the control centre for the Apple Home Collection. In Apple’s imagery it shows camera footage alongside temperature and energy data.

Alongside it, Apple has announced an upgraded Apple TV 4K, which features improved microphones for hands-free Siri.

How it all works together

Every device supports Thread and works with Siri. The devices also update their network credentials automatically if you change your home Wi-Fi.

Apple’s example is a “Good Morning” scene that adjusts the thermostat, tilts the indoor camera down while you get ready and starts music on HomePod. Another routine runs when the last person leaves for work. The thermostat adjusts for an empty home, the door locks and the cameras start monitoring. As you head back, the heating warms up and the front door unlocks as you approach.

In the US, Apple Retail is also offering third-party installation from ADT for an extra charge, from this autumn.
