Garmin’s Fitbit Air rival confirmed (again) You Should Know

The wait goes on for Garmin’s somewhat mysterious rival to the Fitbit Air and Whoop band, but it seems we are getting closer, as the Cirqa has been spotted on the official website.

Rumours of the Cirqa have been circulating for a long while now, but a sighting of the device on the official Garmin website is a good sign the release date is coming soon. It’s been seen on the Romanian support pages by Garmin Rumours but was quickly removed.

It’s only listed by name – as the Cirqa smart band – so we don’t get a look at the device, but it’s positive news nonetheless. It’s listed here as a Garmin device which ‘displays Health Status in Garmin Connect only’.

This is effectively confirmation that the fitness tracker will be a screenless device like the Google Fitbit Air and you’ll have to open the Garmin Connect app on your phone to view the data it is collecting.

Garmin Rumours

Health Status, specifically, is a feature which gives you an overview of your general health by combining five core metrics. Those are heart rate, heart rate variability, respiration, skin temperature and pulse ox.

Garmin says, “It measures your typical ranges for several key health metrics and lets you know if your current status is within range or out of range,” and this will take 3-4 weeks to calibrate.

Lots left to learn

It’s not the first time Garmin has mentioned the Cirqa officially, but by accident. It listed the device back in January, mentioning Black and French Gray colour choices.

A lot more is still to be confirmed about the smart band beyond the release date – which has been tipped for July – including the specs, features and design.

Garmin

It could look like the Garmin Sleep Index Monitor (pictured) – which has a removable module like the Fitbit Air – only presumably slimmer and more fashionable as it will be destined for your wrist rather than your arm.

There’s also a big question mark around the price, as the cheap Fitbit Air is selling very well and the Garmin Cirqa could be almost five times the price.

We hope there’s not too much longer before the Garmin Cirqa gets an official launch.
