Huawei takes on Pixel Watch 5 with new smartwatch range You Should Know

IFA 2026 in Berlin kicks off this week and Huawei has unveiled a boatload of new tech, including a new smartwatch to rival the likes of Google and Samsung.

The Huawei Watch 6 series is described as a “premium all-round smartwatch” and must compete with the Pixel Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 9 among other top wearables. It was announced alongside the Watch GT 7, GT 7 Pro, as well as the Huawei Watch D3 with built-in blood pressure monitoring.

Back to the Watch 6 and it comes in two models and four sizes. The regular Watch 6 comes in 42- and 46mm sizes while the Watch 6 Pro is 43- and 46mm. Each has a new ‘Arcglow Design’ and a new EasyCross Strap for a breathable and comfortable fit.

Materials include a stainless steel case for the regular model and the smaller 43mm Pro comes in an all-new Ceramic Edition. It’s the first all-ceramic wearable from Huawei and has 18K gold accents.

Unlike its rivals such as the Pixel and Galaxy watches, the Huawei Watch 6 runs HarmonyOS, the firm’s own software rather than Wear OS. However, it’s still packed with features, says Huawei.

X-Tap gives you an overview of your health in just a few seconds and now includes 11 different metrics across four categories: basic, endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory health.

Much like the Pixel Watch 5, there’s a new wrist rotation gesture to make everyday navigation more one-handed. There’s also over 100 workout modes and tech wouldn’t be complete these days without some AI.

To that end, there’s AI-driven workout analysis, which sounds like it will be similar to the Health Coach on Google’s smartwatch.

Other features include eSIM for connectivity without a companion phone, contactless payments via Curve Pay and an AMOLED circular display.

Overall, Huawei says you can “Confidently navigate any occasion with comfort and style, enhancing your work, workouts, and daily life, with an unparalleled experience that redefines the boundaries of elegance in wearable technology.”

A free Worry-Free Care package includes two years of protection for the display, crown, back cover and battery. You also get one-month free subscription to the Premium watch face membership.

The Watch 6 Series will be available in the UK from 23 September, starting at £399.99 for the regular model and jumping to £599.99 for the Watch 6 Pro. If you order before 26 October, you’ll get £50 off.
