Apple’s forgotten iPhone gets a massive discount and this is the absolute best time to buy

The Apple iPhone Air quickly faded from the limelight after its release in autumn 2025 with no sequel in sight. Now the launch of the iPhone Duo has practically consigned the lightweight iPhone to history. What does that mean? Bargains!

In its Techtober sale, US retailer Best Buy is flogging the iPhone Air unlocked for $260 off. Every colour, every storage configuration.

If you go for the base 256GB storage model in one of four colours, you can buy it unlocked for $839. That’s around 24% down on the current $1,099 asking price for the phone. The original list price was $999 but last month Apple increased the price by $100 due to the ongoing RAM and storage crisis.

This price cut brings the iPhone Air down to £160 below the original asking price, which actually feels about right for this phone that only has one rear camera.

Our reviewer gave the phone a four-star score from a possible five in October 2025. He praised the stunning new design, wonderful 6.5-inch display, Pro-level hardware, and super-thin and highly pocketable form factor. He did offer a caveat that the battery life was bang average, that the single camera would not be enough for most people, and that the hot running temperature could be an issue.

Is it worth getting now? I’d say it’s worth a shot given the price increases for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 Pro models.
