Major Google Photos bug will be fixed “ASAP” – here’s ways to bypass it
Google has announced that it’s working on a fix to a crippling Photos bug.
Android users have recently reported a bug in the Google Photos app that prevents you from being able to share, edit or delete images following an edit. It seems the entire row of buttons becomes unresponsive.
The issue appears to have manifested itself in a range of Google Pixel phones, but has since made its way over to other devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
It seems a fix is imminent. Android Authority has received confirmation from a Google representative stating that “The Google Photos team is working on rolling out a fix ASAP!”
All of which sounds very urgent, doesn’t it? Let’s hope it gets fully addressed imminently. However, there’s no need to put your photo edits on pause in the meantime.

How to get around the Google Photos bug
Until said fix has been implemented, Google has some advice on how to mitigate the effects of the bug.
The first is to tap “Save as copy” when saving an edit in Google Photos, which will keep the original image unaffected.
The other, if you really need to delete or share an edited photo, is to do so through the Google Photos website rather than the app.
Neither of which is exactly ideal when it comes to editing and sharing images, but at least Google is confirmed to be on the case. Keep your eyes peeled for a Google Play Store update very soon.
It’s the latest of a number of issues to have plagued Pixel phones and the Android 17 platform in general since the beginning of the year.
We’ve had connectivity bugs, touchscreen responsiveness issues, and even instances of total phone bricking following the Android 17 update.
