Marshall’s Bromley 150 bridges the gap between party speaker and Bluetooth boombox – here’s how
Party speakers have massively increased in popularity over the last few years and most have had their design led by the mantra ‘bigger is better’, setting them apart from everyday Bluetooth speakers.
Marshall’s Bromley 750 definitely fits into that category. But the company has recently launched the smaller 450 and now there’s this – the $500/£400 Bromley 150 which is a compact yet robust almost-cube at 29 x 29 x 21cm.
It should be able to produce robust, room-filling sound, with a punchy 360 degree arrangement of a 6.5in woofer, two 6in full-range drivers (all with their own class D amps) okus a 7.5in passive radiator.
It’s still technically a party speaker because it has lights in the grille (still a single gold colour with three presets) that add a bit of sparkle to proceedings. The other key difference is that there are two XLR mic and instrument inputs plus a 3.5mm aux connector, meaning you can easily use it as a portable karaoke speaker or for jam sessions with a comprehensive control panel to match.

The 6kg unit also boasts a ruggedised design with an IP55 rating – and just like Marshall’s amps it uses a wooden cabinet wrapped in polyurethane leather. Naturally there’s also a handle which also slips into the cabinet when pressed down so it can be stacked with other gear.
You can get a huge 40 hours of playtime out of it, while the battery is replaceable so you can use a spare if you want. A 20 minute quick charge gives you 5 hours of playback time.
Marshall adds that the corner caps, handle, front grille, silicone battery cover and knobs are also replaceable should they wear out.
