The most useful Apple Intelligence feature of this generation is set to land in iOS 27.2
Apple is planning to belatedly launch the Messages Suggestions tool – an AI powered feature that works by turning the context of your chat into easy follow-up actions – in the next major iOS 27 update.
With Messages Suggestions, if you see a date for a party invite or a request to carry out a task, you may see a one-tap option to add it to your Calendar or your Reminders app.
Apple says:
Messages offers one-tap suggestions based on the context of users’ conversations, making it easier than ever to get things done, such as creating a reminder or a note. For example, if someone asks for photos, Messages can also help users find the right ones, recognising keywords, locations, and people in their library to find the best options.
The feature was on the slate for the original launch of iOS 27 and was part of the original public beta up until close to launch. Apple then removed the feature from the beta and said it’ll be coming in a “future software update”. Now it’s available as part of the iOS 27.2 beta currently in testing.
9to5Mac’s report is helpful in identifying why the feature didn’t make the original cut. The reporter said that in the original beta, the suggestions would often appear when context didn’t really make sense. Since the update in iOS 27, they appear to be working much more efficiently, the reporter says.
We’re looking forward to seeing Message suggestions launch in iOS 27.2, which may be out in the next few weeks. iOS 27.2 is also set to include the new Apple Intelligence Health app (US only) that promises AI-powered Insights on sleep and activity levels. iOS 27.1 isn’t out yet. It’ll launch alongside the iPhone Duo.
