Now just made it a lot cheaper to watch Sky Sports

It’s no secret to anyone that trying to stay up to date with the latest matches can end up costing you a small fortune, but Sky’s streaming service Now (formerly Now TV) has unveiled all-new Sports Memberships to offer better value for money.

There are now three separate memberships that offer up exactly what they describe: Football, Multi-Sport and All Sky Sports. The Football membership is the biggest highlight of the three as it provides access to games from the Premier League, the WSL, ESL and others, all for as little as £23.99 a month.

The Multi-Sport option doesn’t include football, but it does grant access to the likes of Formula 1, NFL, golf, cricket, tennis, darts and more, for the cheaper starting price of £19.99.

What’s impressive is that if you’re a complete sports fan and want access to everything, then it’s that third and final membership, the All Sky Sports package that gets you all that’s been mentioned for just £27.99.

Although this is a great step forward in making sports more accessible, particularly at a time when pricing for other streaming services like Netflix and Apple TV continues to rise, there is a caveat to Now’s pricing.

All of the prices listed are available as a ‘Monthly saver price’ which only applies for the first 12 months of your membership. Beyond that point, the price across all three memberships increases.

The Football package, for instance, jumps from £23.99 a month to £30.99. It’s not an insignificant uptick, but it can be avoided if you cancel your membership before the end of that 12-month period.

While it’s certainly a move in the right direction, it would be nice to see those lower prices adopted as standard and not simply as introductory rates.
