Samsung teases Galaxy Z Fold 8 BTS limited edition

Samsung’s new foldable phones for 2026 have been a big hit. Launched back in July, despite the chaos of the tech industry this year, the Galaxy Z range has been selling very well.

It’s the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with its new wide form factor which is the most popular and now the Korean firm appears to be teasing a new version of it.

Samsung has posted a cryptic video on social media showing various people dancing inside a rectangle of light matching the proportions of a Galaxy Z Fold 8.

One of those people is J-Hope, a member of the hugely popular Korean band, BTS.

He was already part of Samsung’s marketing campaign for the device, and even posted a teaser holding the phone before the Unpacked event where it was officially unveiled.

The post says “Curious what’s coming? 👀 Worth the wait ✨ Coming soon. Ready to unfold?”

That doesn’t mean all that much, but it certainly isn’t just more generic ongoing marketing to convince people to buy the phone. It’s clearly something new and our best guess is a special BTS limited edition in collaboration with J-Hope.

This could be a new colour (the one shown appears to be the existing Lavender one we reviewed) and we wouldn’t be surprised if there were other flourishes to the design; perhaps a signature etched in the back as well as exclusive software like wallpapers.

It was posted on 8 October and there hasn’t been any news since, but presumably it won’t be too long before another teaser or a full announcement.

Not a new thing

Let’s not forget that Samsung has worked with BTS in the past, launching a special Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition in purple due to the band’s purple heart symbol back in 2020 alongside Galaxy Buds in a matching colour.

At the time, Samsung said, “With the Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition, you can enjoy the revolutionary smartphone in a stunning purple hue. In collaboration with the band, Galaxy S20+ has been made over in a BTS design, with exclusive stickers, pictures, and more.”

We’ll have to wait and see, including whether it launches globally and if it costs extra, but this isn’t even the first time a BTS member has been involved in the tech industry. Nothing recently announced V as a Global Brand Ambassador in conjunction with the Headphone (1) Pro launch.

Fortunately for other tech companies wanting to get in on the action, there are plenty of BTS members left to snap up.
