Sony’s WH-1000XM6 headphones earned five stars when we reviewed them, and this Prime Day Sony XM6 deal makes them an easier purchase to justify. Amazon UK is offering the black pair for £319.20 exclusively to Prime members – a saving of £79.80, or 20 per cent, against the £399 RRP.

In our Sony WH-1000XM6 review, we were particularly impressed by how effectively they shut out a noisy home office. A treadmill became barely audible, PC fans faded away, and nearby Zoom calls were reduced to faint chatter. And that was before we’d even put any music on.
Sony uses 12 microphones and its QN3 processor to tackle background noise, but you can still hear what’s happening around you when you need to. Hold a palm over the right earcup to let outside sound through – handy when someone wants a quick word.
The music deserves your attention, too. Tool’s Pneuma sounded precise and powerful in our testing, with clearly defined drum hits and bass that didn’t overwhelm the music. Agnes Obel’s Riverside showed a gentler side, giving the piano and vocals plenty of space.
There’s scope to adjust the sound in Sony’s Sound Connect app, including a 10-band equaliser. Its Find Your Equaliser feature offers a simpler route, letting you choose between different sounds to build a setting you like.
They’re practical travel companions as well. The folding hinges make them easier to pack, and the supplied case has a magnetic closure. We also found them among the most comfortable over-ears we’d tested, with soft padding and a secure fit.
Sony rates battery life at up to 30 hours with noise cancellation on. If you’ve forgotten to charge them before leaving the house, a compatible USB-PD charger can provide up to three hours of listening from a three-minute top-up. You’ll need to supply that charger separately.
At £319.20 for Prime members, this Sony XM6 deal deserve a place on your shortlist – especially if you’d like a little more peace on your sense-battering commute.
