Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 17 range will save us from overpriced phones: A Practical Look
Specifications for Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro have leaked online, offering the hope of respite from 2026’s deluge of overpriced phones.
It’s been a brutal year for once dependable smartphone ranges, raising their prices on us. From the Samsung Galaxy A57 to the Xiaomi 17T, hikes abound.
Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand has always been a dependable value proposition, offering solid specs and even the occasional smidgen of design panache for an entry-level price tag.
The Redmi Note 17 range looks set to do the same, and its core specifications have just been leaked by tipster Smart Pikachu (via GizChina).

Xiaomi Redmi 17 and 17 Pro specs
According to the leaker, the Redmi Note 17 Pro will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 SoC, with a flat 1.5K display and some form of water resistance. There’ll be a 200Mp main camera and a whopping great 10,000mAh battery.
The lesser Redmi Note 17 will be powered by a shiny new Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor, fronted by a flat 1.5K display, and will run off a still-pretty-huge 9000mAh battery. There’ll be a 50Mp main camera, and some form of unspecified water resistance rating will once again be involved.
These two models are seemingly set to hit the Chinese market in July, and there’s no word on the global rollout, or how those models may vary.
Last year’s Redmi Note 15 and Redmi Note 15 Pro didn’t exactly set our world alight, but both laid on impressive displays, excellent battery life and solid water resistance for budget-friendly prices between £250 and £350 (sadly not in the USA, of course)
Here’s hoping the Redmi Note 17 range doesn’t fall victim to the same pricing pressures as the rest of the field – or at least, not to the same extent.
