A Look at baT Auction Success Story: mustangman7 to the Rescue

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member mustangman7, who won this 2007 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 fire rescue truck from testdummypilot in a March 2025 BaT auction:

I would like to tell everyone about my very first BaT interaction and purchase. I saw this Suburban on the site and instantly fell in love. I restore and show off old emergency vehicles, and this truck perfectly fits the bill as my first fire-related vehicle.

The seller has also got to be one of the best sellers I’ve ever dealt with in my 40-plus years of buying and selling vehicles. He made my first Bring a Trailer purchase so easy that I was amazed; I’ve purchased hundreds of vehicles in my time, but not a single purchase ever came close to making me as happy as this Suburban I bought from him! Mike answered all of my MANY questions and made me feel completely comfortable buying this truck. He even put me in touch with the original driver back when it was owned by the Winchester Fire Company. A seller has never gone so far as to be so helpful! I can’t say enough good things about Mike and this whole transaction. His crew did everything fast and friendly. So much so that I took delivery of the truck BEFORE the paperwork, which was sent overnight, even showed up!

I plan on restoring this truck to its in-service condition and using it as a show vehicle for emergency vehicle events and charity shows. This truck is my first BaT purchase, but I doubt it will be my last! Kudos to everyone involved in the deal! Stay safe out there, and much respect to all our first responders!

If you have a Success Story about a car you’ve bought or sold on BaT, please send a few lines and pictures (or a video) to community.content@bringatrailer.com, and we’ll send you a $50 credit to the BaT Gear Store when your story posts to the site.

We love to hear from satisfied BaT buyers and sellers, and a Success Story feature is a great addition to any car’s history when you’re ready to sell.

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member dustydangler24, who won this Porsche 930 Turbo Slant Nose from FinestVehiclesTraded in a December 2025 BaT auction:
I had been waiting a long time for the right slant-nose to come up for sale, and when this 1988 911 Turbo cabriolet M505 finished in Grand Prix White over Lipstick Red appeared on Bring a Trailer, I immediately knew it was the one. There was simply no way I wasn’t going to win it. A bunch of bids came in early, and I’m not going to lie—I had a moment of “uh-oh, this may get away from me.” But it landed right where I expected it to, and the rest was history.

  • BaT Success Story: Out of His Comfort Zone and Into a Caprice Wagon: A Practical Look

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member AlexW, who won this 1988 Caprice Classic wagon from Competitioncars in a September 2025 BaT auction:
In September 2025, I purchased a 1988 Caprice Estate with 27,000 miles from Competitioncars. This was my first experience buying a vehicle on Bring a Trailer, and the thought of buying ANY car online felt 100% against my best judgment; I am a risk-averse guy, and I know firsthand what can happen to cars over the years (i.e. unreported accidents, hidden flood damage, previous owner neglect, falsified titles, odometer shenanigans, etc.). Still, I really liked the wagon I was looking at. What I especially liked, and what allowed me to throw my typical caution to the wind and make a bid, was Bill’s presentation of the car. The photos and description he provided in the listing rang true, as did the totally transparent videos he posted.

Here’s baT Auction Success Story: Unleashing the Wolf

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member SRA59, who won this 2016 Wolf Racing Cars GB08 SM from jcarson72 in an August 2025 BaT auction:
When this BaT listing first appeared before me, it felt like fate. It was for a 2016 Wolf GB08 SM featuring a carbon-fiber tub, a sequential gearbox, and a look that screamed with purpose. The auction page was alive with dreamers and bench racers, but I wasn’t one of them—I was hunting for keeps. The final hour of bidding was a blur filled with heartbeats and refresh clicks. My palms were slick against the keyboard as the bidding climbed. The Wolf had lived its life on circuits I’d only watched online, but I could already envision it unloading under the Texas sun at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson, Texas. It was like hearing the starter drop the flag on a brand-new chapter of my life once the timer hit zero and the listing was marked “sold.”

BaT Auction Success Story: Wheels on Wheels with frenchfelgen You Should Know

This Success Story comes to us from frenchfelgen—a serial BaT seller and wheel purveyor with over 100 listings to date. In May 2024, he sold a set of BBS LM wheels to BaT user JoeCab for his Ferrari F355 and a set of BBS GT-II wheels to L39E for his widebody 993 911. He followed up with both of them for their thoughts, and provided his own account from a seller’s perspective.
From JoeCab, the winning bidder on the set of BBS LM wheels for his Ferrari F355:
My original F355 wheels were in rough shape; the fronts suffered from cracks in the inner barrels and had been poorly repaired. As you know, magnesium is not easily repairable, and the alloy can develop hidden porosity issues that are not visible under the paint. So I didn’t really consider the original wheels a safe option for anything other than car shows.

  • Here’s baT Auction Success Story: bamiot’s Sunburst Gold M3 Boomerang

This Success Story comes to us from bamiot, who won this Sunburst Gold F80 M3 from casciomotors in a December 2025 BaT auction:
I had the fortune of winning this 2016 Sunburst Gold Metallic BMW M3, one of just two F80 M3s originally collected via Euro Tourist Delivery.  My younger brother originally built it for a client, who turned and sold it—it’s the second of his BMW builds that I’ve won. In this case, my brother and his shop Parts Score in Scottsdale, Arizona, had previously installed Pure Turbos Stage 2 turbochargers and KW4 coilovers, among other tweaks. The car had been further modified after a subsequent purchase in 2016 by other shops in California, I believe.

  • A Look at baT Auction Success Story Update: Motown Targa, Back Again

06/03/2026 Update: BaT user B.Fryk wrote to us in May 2023 about the 2015 911 Targa 4S that he won from BenKeith in a March 2023 BaT auction, and today he’s back to give us a post-road-trip update after scuttling his original plan to “fly and drive.”
    B.Fryk writes:
In March 2023, I placed the winning bid on one of my dream cars: a low-mileage 2015 911 Targa 4S. It departed from NorCal for its new life in the Motor City. Since it was early March, the summer tires didn’t allow for a cross-country drive home, so onto the hauler she went. I recently made up for this by completing my “epic trip west,” a 6,200-mile road trip to the West Coast and back. I appreciate that each owner is free to drive their Porsche as little or as much as desired. I personally leaned into driving the car a lot, as Dr. Porsche intended. Looking toward my October 2025 calendar, my high school reunion in Pasadena was coming up one weekend, followed by a family wedding in Livingston, Montana, the next. With family in the Bay Area, it was the perfect opportunity for a road trip. A break in my schedule allowed me a two-and-a-half-week trip West!
