Here’s baT Auction Success Story: zipcode’s Transnational Fly-and-Drive
This Success Story comes to us from zipcode, who won this 2007 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Sportwagen in a February 2025 BaT auction:
I purchased a 2007 Jaguar X-Type wagon over a year ago, on February 10, 2025, from Vancouver, Canada. We waited until May 2025 to fly from Florida to Toronto to catch the train for a four-night trip to Vancouver.

The dealer delivered the car to me, and I was definitely pleased with the condition. We loaded up the next morning for our Canadian cross-country trip through the Rockies and to Lake Louise, a part of Banff National Park. We were on the road for two days to get there, and stayed four days at Lake Louise. Then we made our way to Glacier National Park in Montana, USA. At the border, we had all the proper paperwork but were still charged a $2,500 tariff on a Canadian used car. This was not negotiable—pay or leave the car in Canada. I paid.

We drove across Montana and the Dakotas, among other places, and visited many sites, including the Badlands and Devils Tower. Just outside of Sheridan, Wyoming, at Little Bighorn, the temperature sensor failed. Thankfully, we made it to Sheridan. The next day, I visited O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, and they had the part—AMAZING. I called a mobile mechanic, who came and installed the sensor. The whole thing was $100. A Jaguar repair for $100!

Over 4,100 miles in a 2007 Jaguar, and that was the only thing that went wrong. What a great trip!
