I found a 260 at the junk yard and that was a great improvement.

“Gorgeous! I drove an ‘85 all through college in the ‘90s. Even through the Michigan winters. So many fun times in that car! I sold it with around 150,000 miles on it. Years later i ran into the woman that bought it. She had 220,000 miles on it. Fenders were falling apart with rust. But that in-line 6 still ran like a top!”

His crew had sent him to borrow a multimeter. He would just show up and pay the late regristration fees so everyones crew wouldn’t be packed with “crew” there just to catch a look at him as a star. “My Dad was a Buick guy and he handed down to me a 1960 Buick Invicta 2 door (2 tone blue and white) with the 445 Wildcat 4 barrel engine. Got 10 miles per gallon, “buried” the ribbon speedometer (120 mph) numerous times and was a “tank” in size…

“All three Muncie 4-speeds were available in the ’69 Z28. Performance wise, the M20 is the best choice as it has a better first, second and third gear. This is all called out in my 1969 Camaro facto book. Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins always raced with the transmission with the lowest first gear. He told me this years ago.”

I worked in the Ford Design Studio from 2005-2022 and these adjustment mechanisms were primarily used on clay armatures and were adjustable to simulate various ride height conditions. These were used on non-powered “pusher” properties for market research and internal evaluation as well. These design studies definitely weren’t built to last and most wound up as scrap.
