Question of the Week: What’s Your Favorite “Hidden Gem” Auto Museum?—WINNER’S UPDATE You Should Know

WINNER’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

We’re back to announce the winner for our Question of the Week, where our winner will receive their laurels in the form of a $25 credit for a hat or T-shirt from the BaT Gear Store.

This week, we asked: What’s your favorite “hidden gem” auto museum?

Thanks to everyone who wrote in! While the Revs Institute received the most love this week, it’s a pretty sophisticated and well-known operation—a gem, to be sure, but not so hidden. This week, we’re exercising our Editorial Privilege to pick something a little further from the beaten path. Our prize today goes to BaT member @SFM1966, who nominated the Hajek Motorsports Museum in Ames, Oklahoma:

An old schoolhouse nestled in the small town of Ames, Oklahoma, is home to Brent Hajek’s Motorsports Museum, which houses some 80 iconic cars from NASCAR and drag racing history, along with a few other gems here and there. Based on the photos we’ve come across online, it looks like a place well worth visiting! Congratulations, SFM1966! Be sure to check your email to claim the prize.

Now, let’s take a look at some other popular nominations from this week’s discussion thread:

Among the wings are a variety of cars hailing from the “Golden Age of Transportation!”

It’s said that moose sightings in Sturgis, South Dakota, are a rare phenomenon. A high concentration of Saabs couldn’t possibly have anything to do with that. Right? RIGHT?

The Cobra Experience was another popular nomination this week.

If you’ve ever wondered whether there was a dedicated Healey museum, then yes, there is! According to the museum itself, it’s the one and only.

Our man, Alex Porter, visited the exhibit back in 2025 and spoke about it on episode #149 of the BaT Podcast!

We wish we could feature them all, but in the interest of time, we’ll stop there. Thanks again to everyone who participated, and congratulations once again to our winner, SFM1966. We’ll be back with a new question soon.

ORIGINAL POST:

Welcome to the BaT Question of the Week! For those unfamiliar, here are the rules: we ask an automotive-themed question, and the author of our favorite answer from the comments is awarded a $25 credit to the BaT Gear Store.

There are well over 100 auto museums in the US alone, and hundreds more around the globe. Many of these institutions have become household names within enthusiast circles, while others remain tucked away—quietly keeping decades of automotive history alive. Every so often, you stumble across one of those hidden gems, and those are the places we want to know about this week. We don’t gatekeep around here, so we’re asking:

What’s your favorite “hidden gem” auto museum?

Tell us your suggestions in the comments, and give a thumbs-up to any nominations that grab your attention. We’ll announce the winner on Monday.
