Goa government rolls out Mhaji bus scheme with ₹5 per km subsidy for private operators

Nearly 30 of 48 buses on the Barasat-Howrah route have switched amid rising costs, revenue leakage and crew-related concerns.

Limited services by UPSRTC are pushing commuters in Noida–Greater Noida corridors towards informal private buses and shuttles.

The first batch is part of OHM’s 500-e-bus order under the second phase of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s electric bus programme.

MSRTC has added only 30 e-buses in recent months, taking its fleet to 768, raising concerns over meeting its March target.

The transport department will use bodycam footage to verify complaints of misconduct, particularly those involving women passengers, before initiating action.
