Here’s baT Auction Success Story: strakaj Becomes A Volvo Man Once More

This Success Story comes to us from zipcode, who won this 2007 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Sportwagen in a February 2025 BaT auction:
I purchased a 2007 Jaguar X-Type wagon over a year ago, on February 10, 2025, from Vancouver, Canada. We waited until May 2025 to fly from Florida to Toronto to catch the train for a four-night trip to Vancouver. 

BaT member williamglenn95 wrapped up a fly-and-drive adventure with the 1967 Morgan 4/4 GT that he won from 97mar in an August 2025 BaT auction. He affectionately named it Marj, and wrote in to tell us how the name came to be:
As a kid, I had a hardwired fascination for all types of beautiful and unique vehicles. This was inspired by my older cousins, who owned everything from motorcycles to a 1960s VW sand rail and a 1965 Sting Ray. My brother and I would play a game every time we rode in the third row of our family’s Chevy Astro van, trying to accurately state the make, model, and year of every car we passed, even at night (I can still read headlight and taillight signatures with surprising accuracy). We also collected hundreds of Hot Wheels cars and spent countless hours talking about our future rides. I inherited both of my current vehicles and started a separate savings account for my dream car.

BaT member Jekyll and his son wrapped up this year’s Monterey Car Week after winning a Euro-spec 1972 BMW 3.0CSi listed by BaT seller/Local Partner Mohr Imports as part of their Car Week Collection, Postcards from Monterey. He wrote in to tell us about it:
I never expected to bring a car home from Monterey. My 19-year-old son had asked whether we could attend this year’s Monterey Car Week. He recently graduated from high school, and we had spent a lot of the summer restoring and upgrading my 1962 MGA, including an engine rebuild and a five-speed conversion. His original hope had been that we would complete that project in time to drive the car down to Monterey, but alas, anyone who has been involved in a restoration will know that timelines are fluid and rarely adhere to any set deadline.

Where to begin? My wife and I volunteered to host an exchange student for the school year. California was the state she wanted to see the most, so we planned a trip. For 15 years I had wanted to buy a car from the West Coast and road trip home, but it had never happened until I had the good idea to bid on an LR3 and oops, I won the auction!

Our latest Success Story comes to us from BaT member Escondidoron, who won this 306k-Mile 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 from c137 in an August 2025 BaT auction and set out for a grueling shakedown with the sixth running of Robin’s Run, a rally celebrating the life of his late son.
Escondidoron writes:
Humanity tends to ask certain questions at pivotal moments: “Is this love?” “Do these jeans make my butt look big?” And most dangerously, “What could go wrong?” Everything. In fact, that last question is not a question—it’s a lifestyle choice. It’s the phrase you utter right before the universe quietly cracks its knuckles and draws back its fist. I muttered those words the moment my meticulously planned rally car—a 1963 Porsche 356 Super 90 Outlaw—decided, four days before departure, that its custom six-volt starter would rather retire than participate. There was no replacement, no workaround, and no mercy. Yet, I still had to go.
