BaT Auction Success Story: A BMW R100S Changes His Mind — Explained
This Success Story comes to us from BaT member Andrewbaron78, who won this 1978 BMW R100S from scott_dc in a September 2025 BaT auction:
I wasn’t in the market for another motorcycle. But for years, I’ve been saying that a late-1970s BMW R100 would change that, especially if one happened to become available near me. Lo and behold, a friend sent me a link to a gorgeous 1978 R100S listed on BaT located near Portland, Oregon, where I live.
I put a bid in, mostly to see how high the price would go, not thinking I would actually win. Days went by, and no other bids came in until the final day. Ten minutes before the auction’s end, another bidder joined, and we went back and forth. I eventually won the auction for what I consider a very reasonable price.
Communication with the seller could not have gone any smoother, and now this beauty is mine. It’s even better than I expected. Some days, I have to go out into the garage just to remind myself that it’s mine. It was my first experience using BaT, and I am very impressed. The rules were explained very clearly, and I had a great experience from start to finish.
