The Mohr Imports Monterey Car Week Collection

Mid-August is just around the corner, and our friends at Mohr Imports are back with the seventh(!) installment of their Monterey Car Week Collection. This year’s is as eclectic as ever, with a heavy focus on German sports cars this time around. There’s also a quartet of Cobras and Ford GTs, a 16M Scud, an Aston dressed in Ferrari colors, and one of the rarer variants of the Lotus Esprit. The collection encompasses 22 cars in all, spanning from 1957–2022. As a Bring a Trailer Local Partner and a mainstay of the Monterey collector car community for over 40 years, Mohr has provided a series of tour videos featuring the cars from the collection, which showcases many highlights that the area has to offer. They’re calling it “The Local Partners Insider’s Guide to Monterey Car Week” and it’s definitely worth a look.

The DFW Car and Toy Museum Collection, Offered at No Reserve

8/19 Update: nearly all of the cars from the massive DFW Toy and Museum Collection have gone live, many have already sold, and the seller has now added three more! Be on the lookout for a 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider, 1982 HMV FreeWay project car, and a 1961 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe, which should post soon.
The DFW Car and Toy Museum is the largest of its kind in Texas, and being the largest anything in Texas is really saying something. Indeed, within their 150,000-square-foot facility, they host a collection of more than 200 cars and 3,000 toys. That said, everyone has their limits, and owner Ron Sturgeon has set a 200-car cap—notable because his museum has won 214 BaT auctions to date. To clear up some space in their ever-rotating lineup, the museum is now presenting this massive collection of 38 cars (and counting) on Bring a Trailer, most of which are BaT Alumni and all of which are being offered with no reserve!

The Swig Family Collection, Presented by Fantasy Junction—All Cars Are Live!

8/18 Update: the final three cars from the Swig Collection are now live! Check them out below.
Our very own Howard Swig grew up in a family famous for automotive enthusiasm, and in his 10+ years at BaT he has been instrumental in building this site into what it has become today. His late father Martin was the San Francisco franchise dealer for at least 17 different marques, keeping up a vast inventory of interesting vehicles with a heavy focus on imports like Alfas, Datsuns, Saabs, Toyotas, Mercedes trucks, Sterlings, and more. He later went on to found the California Mille, inspired by his participation in the 1982 Mille Miglia Storica as the sole American entrant. His acquisitions of several interesting racing and sports cars formed the backbone of a collection that continues to be kept and enjoyed by the rest of the Swig family. Today, we’re excited to announce that six cars from the Swig Family Collection will be represented here by @FantasyJunction, out of Emeryville, California, and many will be offered with no reserve.

The Harlan Schoneweis Collection, from john2323

BaT seller @john2323 brings us this collection of mostly pre-war American vehicles, with one post-war outlier, each of which features an engine with its cylinders in a single tidy row. These automobiles were acquired by the seller’s late father over the years, with some of the earliest cars purchased in the 2010s; the Buick sedan and Chevrolet pickup, however, boast family histories stretching back to the mid-20th century. Many will be offered with no reserve!

Estates, Wagons, and Avants: A Collection of Longroofs from Tnbusiness71

This collection of 12 Japanese-market wagons comes to us from @Tnbusiness71 in Vancouver, Canada, and features longroofs of Japanese and German manufacture blending performance and luxury with everyday usability. Some are models that never made it to our shores, and others are familiar faces with features that were never offered in the North American market. Either way, we love a good estate sale—so let’s take a tour of these excellent touring cars.

The Maserati Collection, from 1600veloce—Auctions Closing Soon!

9/22 Update: The first auctions from the Maserati Collection begin closing on September 23, and the remaining auctions close on Friday, September 25.
These four classic Maseratis come to us from @1600veloce, and span 14 years of production under two corporate parents. The cars sport designs that read like an automotive stylist hall of fame ballot—Frua, Gandini, Giugiaro—and that trace the transition from the svelte Italian styling of the 1960s into the angular response of the 1970s.

    The 1-2-3 4-Cam Collection, from Garage44

9/23 Update: the second of three cars in the 1-2-3 4-Cams Collection has gone live—check it out below!
After just a couple years of racing, Ernst Fuhrmann’s legendary four-cam boxer engine was deemed ready for production use, and by 1955 it was made available in the 356A Carrera, named after the grueling and deadly Carrera Panamericana road race. This incredible collection from Garage44 presents a thorough cross-section of the Carrera program as it existed in the late 1950s and early ’60s. Each is powered by a plain-bearing version of the four-cam engine, and each represents a different facet of the Carrera ethos, which in many ways has been the guiding principle for nearly all Porsches—equally at home on track or in traffic, and able to switch between the two with ease. The 356A Carrera 1600 GS Coupe is the more refined of the trio, the 356B Carrera 1600 GT Coupe aimed principally at competition, and the 356A Carrera 1600 GT Speedster a stripped down, simplified driving machine ready for any (dry) road or circuit. Any one of them would be cause for excitement on its own, and taken together they illustrate a progression from high-speed touring to focused track use during one of the most technically ambitious periods in Porsche’s early history.

The War Eagles Air Museum Collection Sale

The War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, houses an impressive collection of WWII and Korean war aircraft. Nestled under their wings are several interesting vehicles as well, but the museum’s main focus is on military vehicles that fly. To that end, they are auctioning some of their four-wheeled terrestrial treasures at no reserve, with proceeds from the sale (including the BaT buyer’s fees) benefiting the museum. This eclectic handful of cars is the first installment of the War Eagles Air Museum collection, and we’re hoping to see more in the coming months. Fair warning: you’re going to see some cool warbirds lurking in the galleries!

The Tons of Gas Collection: European Tuner Cars of the ’80s and ’90s

Welcome to the Tons of Gas Collection from the TonsOfGasAutoCollection shop in North Carolina. This collection features a host of tuned and modified European cars from the ’80s and ’90s totaling 17 cars in all. Stylistically, Giugiaro looms large over the collection, with additional contributions from the likes of Bruno Sacco, Claus Luthe, Strosek, Rieger, and others. Many feature exotic and desirable equipment from companies like Zender, BBS, and AC Schnitzer, and the heart of the collection is a group of obscure German and Italian Callaway turbo conversions. Your inner boy racer will be salivating over the menagerie of scoops, spoilers, and strakes, as striking now as they were back in the day.
