Here’s michelin Tire Giveaway, Round 10—Congratulations, Fredand5kids!

The 10th round of this year’s Michelin and BFGoodrich tire giveaway is officially on the books. Over 100 of you took to the ballot box, and every contestant received a healthy measure of love from the beginning. But the Toyota pickup was quick to take the lead and kept it up until the end, even with the Miata nipping at its heels. Congratulations to its new owner, @Fredand5kids!
Toyota pickups of this vintage are known to be gluttons for punishment, thanks in part to its legendary 22R-E four-pot. But this one looks to have been kept up nicely, and with 108k miles shown on the clock, it’s just getting started. The refinished blue paint is sharp, and the interior is certainly in good shape for being a 37-year-old truck. Chalk it up to the lack of cupholders.
This trucklet remained under the care of its original owner until 2025, and a brand new set of BFGs will prep it for daily duty with @Fredand5kids—though probably not with five kids in the cab.

As the holidays approach, we’re up to Round 10 of the 2025 Michelin/BFGoodrich Tire Giveaway. Every month, our generous partners at Michelin USA grant us the ability to give away a brand new set of Michelin, Michelin Classic, or BFGoodrich tires. In turn, we ask you, the BaT community, to help us choose one special vehicle drive off with fresh treads.
Here’s how it works:
We’ve identified four candidates below, all no-reserve vehicles wearing older or mixed generic rubber (or both). We want you to tell us which you’d like to see get a free set of new Michelin, Michelin Classic or BFGoodrich tires! Let us know your vote in the comments, and please vote for one car only. As with our Question of the Week contests, we heavily favor the People’s Choice—but on occasion, we reserve the right to hand the prize to the most appropriate candidate in our view. Since the auctions close over the course of a few days, voting will remain open until midnight Pacific time on Monday, December 22. That gives you time to think, and gives the auctions time to run their courses. We’ll tally the votes and announce the winner on Tuesday, December 23.
In no particular order, here are your candidates!
We don’t see too many Eastern Bloc vehicles on BaT, and this one came out of Georgia (the country, not the state) in 2023. Though finished in dark blue, it’s as red as it gets on the inside, and the floormats and interior ornaments loudly proclaim their Bolshevik allegiances. These simple sedans began as license-built variants of the Fiat 124, and evolved to receive a 125-style nose, a cheap and robust SOHC four-pot of Lada’s own design, and other revisions that made the cars less expensive to produce and purchase than their Italian progenitors. While light on creature comforts, the sturdy little Lada was meant to be a car for the people, able to fire up and get workers to the factory in -20º temperatures. A hard-working set of new Michelins would serve it well, and as it so happens they have a fitment for its 13″ wheels!
Online classified listings are filled with neglected Porsche 924s, but this one drew a golden ticket and received the full Wob treatment. As a final-year ‘S’ model, it received the 944’s 2.5-liter motor, as well as a substantial portion of its suspension components, so it offered performance above its price point. Some folks prefer the narrow-body 924 to its contemporary transaxle Porsche siblings, and the lovely presentation here goes a long way toward making that case. With a new set of Michelins underneath, it could be even more convincing.
1988 Toyota Pickup 4×4 5-Speed
Standard cab, 22R-E, steel wheels, and a manual transmission—we think that’s a great spec for an ’80s Toyota pickup. This one is kitted out pretty well, too, with a winch, visor, and side graphics. The combination of factory A/C with manual crank windows is the cherry on top. For a 37-year-old truck, it seems eminently useable, so long as its outdated tires are swapped for a new set of BFGs.
19k-Mile 2004 Mazda Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata
An issue with low-mileage driver’s cars is that they haven’t been driven much. That’s the case with this NB Miata. It has the Mazdaspeed package, which elevated the platform from “chuckable” to “actually really quick” by way of a turbocharger, six-speed gearbox, sport-tuned suspension, and wider wheels. Those wider wheels are currently wearing outdated rubber, and we’re sure some sticky Michelins from the Pilot line would give the next owner an incentive to give this Miata regular exercise.
