Understanding baT Auction Success Story: Graduating to a Wrangler

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

This Success Story comes from BaT member curlyjoe, who won this JK Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock Edition from gb70 in a March 2025 BaT auction:
I recently won this 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock Edition on Bring a Trailer, and the entire experience was fantastic. My 17-year-old daughter has always dreamed of owning a Jeep, so I decided to surprise her as a reward for her hard work in high school and her acceptance into a great college. This Jeep, with only 17,000 miles, finished in stunning Granite Crystal Metallic, was the perfect choice.

Here’s baT Auction Success Story: Public Lands Rover

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member vplukas101, who won this 2008 Land Rover LR3 SE from Fwatraveler in a December 2024 BaT auction:
Where to begin? My wife and I volunteered to host an exchange student for the school year. California was the state she wanted to see the most, so we planned a trip. For 15 years I had wanted to buy a car from the West Coast and road trip home, but it had never happened until I had the good idea to bid on an LR3 and oops, I won the auction!

BaT Success Story: Scotty_G2020’s Belated Road Trip Diaries: A Practical Look

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

BaT member Scotty_G2020 wasn’t able to make a planned fly-and-drive trip after winning this 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo from silverarrowcarsltd back in June 2020. In 2022 he was able to make good on his cross-country intentions, and now he’s here to tell us his story.
I bought my 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo on Bring a Trailer, and it eventually led to the road trip of a lifetime. I hope this story inspires more people to hit the road in the cars they love. The car has an incredible origin story: it was a one-owner daily driver that had spent nearly a decade tucked away in a garage in Blaine, Washington. The seller, @silverarrowcarsltd, carefully brought it back to life the way any car person would: replacing the fuel system, water pump, and other essential items to make it roadworthy again.

    Event Coverage:
The BaT team returned to Zandvoort in 2025 with a prime spot in the lively paddock for the Historic Grand Prix. The weather was once again uncharacteristically hot for the Netherlands, but fans took it in stride to soak up the sun and racing in the dunes.

    Question of the Week

A Look at question of the Week: What’s Your All-Time Favorite Engine with Nine or More Cylinders?—WINNER’S UPDATE

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

    WINNER’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

Happy Monday! We’re back to announce the winner for our Question of the Week, where our victor will accept a $25 credit for a hat or T-shirt from the BaT Gear Store and the acclaim of their peers.

Our question was: What’s your all-time favorite engine with nine or more cylinders?

The discussion thread was certainly a diverse omnium gatherum of high-cylinder-count engines used in vehicles across land, air, and sea. This week, the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine was the most mentioned nomination, and BaT member @Lagunatich was the first to mention it, thereby making him the winner!

“Rolls-Royce Merlin aero engine from WWII. 27 litres. It won the war. ‘Nuf said.
