Presenting the 2025 Mohr Imports Car Week Collection: Postcards from Monterey: A Practical Look

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

Welcome to the sixth edition of BaT Local Partner Mohr Imports’ Monterey Collection, hosted here each year in conjunction with Monterey Car Week. With this collection (entitled “Postcards from Monterey”), Mohr will crest 600 BaT auctions since they first came here in 2016, so let’s give them a hearty round of applause. This latest edition comprises 20 listings from three continents spanning 70 years of automotive history, from 1953-2023. The group is composed almost entirely of iconic two-door sports cars, save a one-door Jaguar, a zero-door Mini Moke, and a Moto GP-style Honda CB750 Sandcast, and includes a large cross-section of high-performance rear-engine Porsches.

BaT Auction Success Story: gferg’s Winter Goose — Explained

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

Back in a February 2025 BaT auction, BaT member gferg won this 1990 Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000 Mark V from Jayjaybay H.e recently wrote in to tell us about his first BaT win:
This was my first major long-distance bid-and-win purchase, and it was a very good experience! I originally registered online to get notifications on some key searches, and within a couple of weeks, this Le Mans V showed up in Michigan. I live in Oklahoma, and it was the middle of winter at the time. The communication tools were good for both seller and bidder and after a few questions, I determined the seller was a straight shooter.

The Barn Find Viper Collection, Offered at No Reserve by Silver Arrow Cars: A Practical Look

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

This brood of delivery-mileage Dodge Vipers comes to us from Silver Arrow Cars, who recovered three of the four cars from a larger collection of Vipers left in long-term storage in a Victoria, BC, aircraft hangar. All four cars here were parked with under 100 miles or kilometers on their odometers, and were reconditioned by a Viper technician at a local Dodge dealer over the course of several months with fresh fluids, filters, and ignition components before being brought back to life. We’re excited to offer this quartet of special Vipers without reserves, and the auctions will begin going live on Tuesday, August 5. A preview of the individual cars in the collection continues below:

Remembering Ercole Spada, 1937-2025: A Practical Look

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

Our colleagues at Car and Driver and many other outlets are reporting that Ercole Spada, the brilliant designer behind the Aston Martin DB4 Zagato and many other models on the list of all-time greats, passed away on August 3 at age 88. Though he may not have enjoyed the international name recognition of a Gandini or Giugiaro, Spada certainly deserves his spot in the pantheon of great automobile designers.

BaT Auction Success Story: DeSoto Shopper Wagon Makes the Motor City Trek: A Practical Look

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

Back in January 2025, BaT member black71gp won this ’58 DeSoto Firesweep Four-Door Shopper wagon from ObsoleteAutomotive. He and two friends drove it six hundred miles home, and he recently wrote in to tell us about the trip:
Here’s a quick note about my story about buying this car on BaT. I won the car from a seller located in North Carolina, even though I live just north of Detroit, Michigan. After a quick conversation with the seller, I decided to grab some friends, catch a flight to Charlotte, and attempt to drive it home.

Question of the Week: Which Car Features your All-Time Favorite Seat Upholstery Design?—WINNER’S UPDATE You Should Know

    Byjustpastevehicles August 28, 2026

    WINNER’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

Happy Monday! We’re back to announce the winner for our Question of the Week, where our victor will accept a $25 credit for a hat or T-shirt from the BaT Gear Store and the acclaim of their peers.

Our question was: Which car features your all-time favorite seat upholstery design?

The 115+ comment thread had a postmodern feel this week, and we can dig it! The iconic Pasha pattern from Porsche received the most mentions of all, and two-time QotW winner @Ben was the first to mention it this week. His second win comes right on the heels of his earlier triumph, so this week we’re handing the prize to the runner-up, @RitchieR!

    “Pasha FTW!”
