“Reid Railton’s 24 liter Napier Lion-powered Brooklands racer. Everyone ought to be aware of this polished aluminum beauty. I’ve stood next to it at the Brooklands musem but haven’t heard or seen it run in person, although I did see the red Napier Lion-powered Bentley run at Goodwood about 20 years ago. Wonderful stuff.

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed just wrapped up, the Goodwood Revival is coming right up, and with the Goodwood celebration coming to America in 2027, we wanted to conduct a thought experiment before the festivities make their way across the pond. This week’s question is:
What’s your ultimate Goodwood ride?
Since 1993, the Duke of Richmond has thrown open the gates of the Goodwood Estate, inviting man and machine to make a run up the hill. Over the years, the variety of two- and four-wheeled vehicles booming uphill at the Festival of Speed has continued to grow and hasn’t diminished one iota. The nearby Goodwood Motor Circuit also hosts the Goodwood Revival, which is where those great videos of Ford Galaxies dicing with Mini Coopers come from.
There’s no shortage of iconic Goodwood FOS and Revival videos from years past on YouTube to get the creative juices flowing, and logistics need not apply this week—anything goes for your mental lap up the hill or through the Fordwater curve.
