BRIT holidaymakers were forced to evacuate a Stansted-bound flight after a passenger allegedly made a bomb threat.
The Jet2 plane was disembarked at Tenerife South airport shortly before its scheduled departure at 11.20am yesterday.
One traveller had allegedly claimed to be carrying a bomb in the luggage resulting in a two-hour delay.
The aircraft and passengers’ luggage were checked as part of the security operation.
Local reports suggest Civil Guard officers found no explosive device during their sweep.
The incident also caused some temporary disruption to airport operations while the security checks were taking place.
Spain‘s civil guard eventually allowed other passengers to reboard Flight 1536 and it left around 1.45pm local time before landing in Stansted around 6pm.
It is not clear whether the passenger reportedly making the threat was arrested.
A spokesman for Jet2 said: “We can confirm that customers were asked to disembark a flight at Tenerife South Airport yesterday following an incident involving a passenger onboard.
“Customers have since reboarded and the flight has now landed at London Stansted as planned.
“We would like to apologise to everyone onboard for the delay and any inconvenience caused.”
In July, cops arrested a man accused of sparking panic at Barcelona’s El Prat airport after allegedly shouting “Allahu Akbar” and hurling a backpack to the ground.
Terrified holidaymakers fled through the terminal, with at least two people reportedly treated for panic attacks following the scare.
Barcelona’s Civil Guard said officers were scrambled after the man allegedly began yelling jihadist-type slogans at people inside the airport.
Private airport security had already restrained him by the time cops arrived and made the arrest.
Police initially described the suspect as a Dominican Republic national, but later identified him as a 23-year-old from Honduras.
