The spar is more than 100 feet (30.5 meters) long and forms the basic load-bearing support structure of the wing. According to Boeing, the total wingspan of the 777-8 is 212 feet 8 inches (64.8 meters) on the ground and 235 feet 5 inches (71 meters) when the wings are spread out. The Boeing team also produces the skin and stringers for the wing, which, when combined with the spar, will provide the complete wing strength and aerodynamic shape.
