🦫 Plot — What is Hoppers About?

Mabel Tanaka (voiced by Piper Curda) is a passionate 19-year-old animal lover living in the city of Beaverton. Since childhood, she has cared deeply for a nearby forest glade and its animal inhabitants — especially a colony of beavers — inspired by her late grandmother who shared the same love for nature.

When the city’s slick, smooth-talking Mayor Jerry Generazzo (Jon Hamm) announces plans to bulldoze the glade and replace it with a freeway, Mabel launches a passionate campaign to stop him — but nobody listens. Her activism causes her to fall behind in her biology studies, frustrating her professor Dr. Sam Fairfax (Kathy Najimy), who has secretly invented a groundbreaking technology: a way to “hop” human consciousness into a lifelike robotic animal body.

Seizing the opportunity, Mabel transfers her mind into a robotic beaver and enters the animal world, where she befriends the lovable and kingly King George (Bobby Moynihan). But Mabel quickly discovers the animal kingdom is far more complex — and dangerous — than she imagined. Her well-intentioned actions accidentally spark a full-scale animal rebellion against humanity, and she must find a way to stop it before everything falls apart.

Along the way, Mabel encounters the terrifying Insect Queen (Meryl Streep), a bloodthirsty butterfly leader on the Animal Council, and her son Titus, the Insect King (Dave Franco). Equal parts hilarious and heartfelt, Hoppers is a Pixar adventure about nature, technology, activism, and the unexpected consequences of good intentions.
