Surprising Stats: Mbappe ‘Carrying’ Real Madrid, Aims to Break 15-Year Curse
Real Madrid would not be able to compete for the La Liga 2024/25 title with Barcelona if it weren’t for Kylian Mbappe. The numbers say it all.
Mbappe is not only the top scorer for Real Madrid this season but has also contributed to 18 of the team’s total 63 points in La Liga.
Mbappe equals Ronaldo’s record with 33 goals

Mbappe has scored 33 goals in his debut season for Real Madrid — the same as Cristiano Ronaldo did in his first season at the Bernabeu. Just one more goal and he’ll surpass his idol.

Nearly one-third of Real Madrid’s points this campaign have come from goals scored by the French star. No other player in the league has contributed more directly to their team’s points than Mbappe.
In the most recent match, Mbappe scored twice to lead Real Madrid to a 3-2 win over Leganes. He opened the scoring with a penalty and then netted a free kick in the 76th minute to secure the win.
In the previous round, the 26-year-old also scored both goals in Real Madrid’s 2-1 comeback victory against Villarreal.
Even when he doesn’t score the decisive goal, Mbappe is often the only scorer for Los Blancos — such as in the 1-1 draws against Osasuna and Atletico Madrid.

Mbappe currently has 33 goals for Real Madrid — matching Ronaldo’s debut tally — and it’s only early April. While the French star has his eyes on personal accolades, he insists that winning titles with Real Madrid is his top priority.
There are nine matches left in La Liga. Barcelona leads the table with 66 points, three ahead of Real Madrid. Mbappe and Los Blancos are aiming to break a 17-year curse — the team hasn’t successfully defended the league title since the 2007/08 season.
Last year, Real Madrid convincingly won the La Liga and Champions League double. However, this season, Ancelotti’s side has shown inconsistent form, despite having a chance at a treble — they face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals, and are currently second in La Liga.
Ancelotti is truly counting on Mbappe to make the difference for Real Madrid.
