prachuap weather warning

Prachuap weather warning issued for 26–30 July

A Prachuap weather warning has been issued for 26 to 30 July, with authorities across the province ordered to prepare for heavy rain, flash floods, landslides and rough seas.

The urgent notice, dated Saturday, 25 July, followed a Thai Meteorological Department forecast of heavy to very heavy rain in several parts of the country, including Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Officials warned that the conditions could trigger rapid run-off from forested and hillside areas, flash flooding, localised flooding and landslides. Strong winds and waves are also expected to affect coastal areas.

The order was signed by Deputy Governor Prateep Boriboonrat, acting on behalf of the provincial governor, and sent to all districts, local administrative organisations and relevant agencies.

Measures under the Prachuap weather warning

Authorities have been instructed to closely monitor weather conditions and areas considered vulnerable to flooding and landslides.

Residents and tourists in high-risk locations, particularly near waterfalls, canals and hillsides, should be warned promptly. Officials have also been told to restrict access to dangerous areas when necessary.

Marine conditions must also be monitored, with fishermen and boat operators advised to exercise caution. Authorities may prevent vessels from leaving shore if conditions become severe.

Districts and local agencies have been ordered to prepare temporary shelters, food, drinking water and other essential supplies in case residents need emergency assistance.

All agencies must provide regular updates on weather conditions and any damage to the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Centre so that support can be arranged quickly.

Residents have been advised to follow official announcements and avoid routes at risk of flooding or landslides. Anyone planning to go to sea should check the latest weather conditions before departure.
