Wan Lai Hua Hin draws large crowds for first-time celebration
The first Wan Lai Hua Hin festival drew large crowds on 19 April, with thousands of residents and tourists taking part in extended Songkran celebrations across the town centre.
Held for the first time in Hua Hin, the Wan Lai Hua Hin event saw busy scenes along Soi Bintabaht, the Five-Way Intersection and Selakam Road, where people gathered from the afternoon onwards to continue water festivities beyond the traditional Songkran period.
Visitors, including both Thai nationals and international tourists, took part in water fights, applied powder and joined foam activities set up along the streets. Children were among those enjoying foam zones, while music from DJs and live bands played throughout the day and into the evening.

The hot April weather contributed to steady participation, with crowds remaining in the area well into the night. The Wan Lai Hua Hin festival atmosphere was marked by a mix of organised entertainment and informal street celebrations.
Authorities closed sections of Selakam Road and surrounding streets to traffic, allowing pedestrians to move freely and take part in the event safely. The road closures remained in place until midnight.
Police from Hua Hin Police Station, along with district administrative officials, were deployed across key areas to manage crowds, ensure safety and assist visitors. No major incidents were reported during the event.
Organisers said the strong turnout reflected continued interest in Songkran traditions, even after the main festival period had ended earlier in the month. The response from both locals and tourists has led to expectations that Wan Lai Hua Hin could become a regular annual event.
