Prachuap Khiri Khan weather warning issued
Residents and visitors in Prachuap Khiri Khan have been advised to monitor weather updates closely after officials issued a weather warning for heavy rain, flash floods, landslides and strong winds between June 28 and July 3.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has warned 43 provinces, including Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchburi to remain on alert during the period, with people urged to follow official advice to protect life and property.
In Prachuap Khiri Khan, the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Centre said areas expected to experience heavy rain could be at risk of forest run-off, flash flooding, standing water, landslides and strong waves.
Officials have advised local agencies to publicise warnings in advance and ensure residents keep up to date with weather reports and official announcements.
Warnings may also be issued along coastal areas, with signs installed where necessary. Tourists are being told not to swim in the sea during periods of strong waves and winds, while boat operators, captains and passenger boat services have been urged to proceed with caution.
Extra attention is also being given to natural tourist attractions, particularly waterfalls and caves, where heavy or continuous rain can increase the risk of flooding and other hazards.
