Sam Roi Yot Run 2026 draws more than 500 runners
Sam Roi Yot Run 2026 drew more than 500 Thai and international runners to Sam Roi Yot Beach on Sunday, 28 June, for the seventh edition of the community race.
The event, held under the theme “Through the villages, along the sea”, was opened by Prachuap Khiri Khan Deputy Governor Phanphat Sitthisak. He was joined by officials from Sam Roi Yot district, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan office, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, local administrative bodies, community leaders, health officials and local business operators.
The race was organised by the Sam Roi Yot Community Leaders Council and local partners to promote sports tourism, encourage exercise and support the local economy.
Sam Roi Yot Run 2026 supports health tourism
Chatchai Charot, village headman of Moo 5 in Sam Roi Yot subdistrict, said the run had now been held for seven consecutive years and continued to play a role in promoting the area as a destination for health and sports tourism.
He said the event was also intended to bring more visitors into the community, create income for local residents and strengthen Prachuap Khiri Khan’s image as a health tourism destination.
The event featured three race distances: 2.7km, 5km and 10km. The routes gave runners the chance to take in the coastal scenery of Sam Roi Yot while passing through local communities.
A fancy dress runners’ contest was also held under the theme “The best of Sam Roi Yot”, highlighting local identity and community participation.
After expenses, proceeds from the event will be donated to a fund for a rescue vehicle for Sam Roi Yot subdistrict.
