Prachuap Khiri Khan tourism festival set to boost local economy
Prachuap Khiri Khan province is moving ahead with plans to host the Prachuap Khiri Khan tourism festival, officially titled “Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourism Festival: The Miracle of the Three Bays and Red Cross Fair 2026”, as part of efforts to boost tourism and support the local economy.
A preparatory meeting was held on 31 March at the provincial hall, chaired by Governor Sitthichai Sawat Saen. The meeting brought together Deputy Governor Preeda Sukjai, Provincial Tourism and Sports Officer Lt. Col. Sitthichai Tantasit, Hua Hin City Municipality Deputy Mayor Bussaba Choksuchat, along with representatives from government agencies and the private sector.
The Prachuap Khiri Khan tourism festival is scheduled to take place from 24 April to 4 May 2026, spanning 11 days and 11 nights. Activities will be centred at King Rama IX Commemorative Park in front of the provincial hall, with additional events along the seafront road by Prachuap Bay.
Organisers said the festival aims to promote tourism, stimulate economic activity, and showcase the traditions, culture and local knowledge of all eight districts in the province. Revenue generated during the event will be used to support public benefit initiatives.
Programme highlights and “Art City” theme
During the meeting, officials reviewed the overall event format, including activity zones, the opening ceremony and the full programme schedule. This year’s festival will be held under the theme “Art City”, with a focus on contemporary art.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday 24 April and will feature a large-scale light and sound production on the main stage, designed to reflect the identity of Prachuap Khiri Khan. The programme will also include a fireworks display at Saranwithi Bridge and a cultural performance titled “The Legend of Ta Mong Lai”.
A range of returning activities is expected to draw visitors throughout the festival period. These include a seafood fair highlighting local dishes and fisheries products, the Miss Three Bays pageant, and the Sam Ao Next Gen Music Award 2026, which showcases youth bands.
Additional attractions will include Muay Thai contests, Red Cross charity booths, and stalls selling OTOP and community products. Consumer goods caravans and nightly live concerts featuring well-known Thai artists are also planned.
Governor Sitthichai has instructed all relevant agencies to ensure full readiness across logistics, safety and event management to support the smooth running of the festival.
Residents and visitors are being encouraged to attend and take part in Red Cross fundraising activities, with proceeds contributing to community and welfare projects across the province.
