New overpass planned for Cha-am-Pranburi bypass
Nong Phai overpass planned for Highway 37
A new overpass is set to be built at Nong Phai intersection on Highway 37 after the Department of Highways signed a contract for the project in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The Nong Phai overpass will be constructed at the junction of Highway 37 and rural road Por Kor 2030. Officials said it is intended to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and cut the risk of accidents at the busy junction.
Thanatsak Wongthanakitjaroen, director of the Bridge Construction Bureau at the Department of Highways, signed the contract with Sam Phet Company Limited, the winning bidder.
The project has a budget of 299.66 million baht and is expected to take 930 days, or about 31 months, to complete. It is due to open in 2029.
Nong Phai overpass part of wider bypass upgrade

The overpass will be 14 metres wide, with four lanes in total, and 190 metres long. It will form part of a 1.78-kilometre section of Highway 37 between kilometre markers 38+400 and 40+400.
Highway 37, which links Cha-am and Pran Buri, is a key bypass route for Cha-am and Hua Hin and an important connection between central Thailand and the south.
At present, traffic at Nong Phai intersection is controlled by traffic lights, often causing queues and delays. Officials said the new overpass will help traffic move more smoothly and support freight transport, tourism and the local economy.
The project is part of a larger Department of Highways plan to expand the Cha-am bypass from four lanes to six over about 48 kilometres, with overpasses planned at six intersections.
