India television actress Aditi Sharma files domestic violence case against husband and in-laws in Mumbai

Indian television actress Aditi Sharma has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband and in-laws in Mumbai, alleging that she was subjected to physical and mental abuse, harassment, and mistreatment after her marriage. The actress has accused her husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law of involvement in repeated incidents of domestic violence and emotional distress.

According to police officials, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on July 31 at the Goregaon Police Station in Mumbai against Aditi Sharma’s husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. The police have started an investigation into the allegations and are examining the details provided in the complaint.

In her complaint, Aditi Sharma alleged that she faced continuous physical and psychological abuse, including beatings, verbal harassment, character assassination, and domestic intimidation. She also accused her in-laws of misusing the jewelry and valuables that she had brought with her as part of her wedding belongings.

The actress explained that she first met her husband, Abhinay, in June 2021 during an online acting class. Their initial friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship, and the couple eventually decided to get married with the consent of both families. According to Sharma, the relationship appeared positive in the beginning, but problems started shortly after their marriage.

She stated that the couple began living together in a flat in Goregaon West in September 2024 and got married on November 12, 2024, in the presence of their families. However, she alleged that her husband’s behavior changed soon after the wedding. According to her complaint, disagreements began over minor issues, including her clothing choices and everyday household matters.

Sharma further alleged that instead of contributing to household expenses, her husband frequently took money from her. She claimed that she had to bear financial responsibilities while also facing emotional and mental pressure within the marriage.

The actress stated that a dispute on January 1, 2025, regarding drinking coffee turned into a serious argument. Following that incident, she alleged that her husband began questioning her character, accusing her of having inappropriate relationships, and repeatedly checking her mobile phone. She claimed that these actions created an atmosphere of suspicion and control, eventually leading her husband to move to a separate room and stop maintaining normal marital relations.

Aditi Sharma also alleged that she was prevented from communicating freely with her parents. She claimed that restrictions were placed on her interactions with her family, which caused her additional emotional suffering and isolation.

In another serious allegation, Sharma accused her mother-in-law of keeping her wedding jewelry and refusing to return it despite repeated requests. She claimed that her jewelry was retained without her consent and that her efforts to recover her belongings were ignored.

The actress further alleged that whenever attempts were made to resolve disputes within the family, her mother-in-law and sister-in-law consistently supported her husband and contributed to her continued harassment.

The police have registered the case and initiated further investigation into the allegations. The matter will now proceed according to the legal process, with authorities expected to examine evidence and statements from all parties involved.

Shaandaar brings a different kind of story to Pakistani television

Pakistani television dramas tend to follow familiar patterns. Family feuds, romantic misunderstandings, domestic conflicts. Shaandaar, the new crime thriller airing on Express Entertainment, has made a deliberate choice to go somewhere different, and the early response suggests audiences are ready for exactly that. The 16-episode drama, directed by Wajahat Rauf, draws inspiration from several real-life roadside killing cases that have sparked public debate and outrage in Pakistan. It is not a dramatisation of any single incident. Instead, the story brings together elements from different cases involving violence, privilege and the kind of power that can sometimes make consequences disappear. The question it keeps returning to is one that many Pakistanis have asked in real life: what happens when the powerful believe they are beyond accountability? For Ahsan Afzal Khan, who plays the central character Salar, the project offered something rare. “A script picked by Mr Wajahat Rauf already gives you the impression that something different is coming,” he told The Express Tribune. He described the opportunity to work in this genre as one of the main reasons he signed on. “There are very few such stories. We were getting a chance to do something different, a crime thriller genre.” Salar is not easy to like. He is privileged, arrogant and narcissistic. He looks down on others and misuses his influence. But Khan was careful to distinguish between understanding a character and excusing one. “I hope people relate to the human side of Salar, but not to his entire personality,” he said. He also pushed back on the idea that characters can be neatly sorted into good and bad. “No negative character is a bad person, and no positive character is a good person. We are all layered somewhere.” His explanation for how someone becomes Salar is rooted in how they were raised and what they absorbed along the way. “Did we face bullying? What did we face? All of that is incorporated into your mind. You are reacting as a defence mechanism.” Beneath the arrogance, there is a human being shaped by something. But those origins do not erase the damage. The drama is designed to move quickly. Khan described it as “fast-paced, gritty and dark,” but said the tone is not relentlessly heavy. “There is a light mood too, then slowly it gets darker and darker. There are social messages and a lot of things.” He said he watches the episodes with his family and finds himself wanting to see the next one. “It keeps you interested. It is not dragged.” That pace appears to be connecting with a younger audience. “Teenagers and Gen Z are enjoying this drama a lot,” Khan said. He also noted that viewers who usually prefer international content have expressed interest in the series, which says something about how far Shaandaar’s tone and subject matter depart from what Pakistani television typically offers. The ensemble cast includes Shamoon Abbasi, Shahzad Sheikh, Areeka Haq, Ali Dayan, Laila Wasti and Ahsan Afzal Khan. Together they inhabit a world where privilege and power create consequences that ordinary people cannot escape, and where the same actions carry very different costs depending on who commits them. It is a world many Pakistani viewers will recognise without needing it explained.

Kevin Feige reveals story behind Spider-Man’s iconic handshake

Kevin Feige has revealed the surprising story behind one of the most memorable friendship moments in the recent Spider-Man movies: the elaborate handshake shared by Peter Parker and his best friend Ned Leeds. Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, recently appeared at the D23 event alongside actor Jacob Batalon, who portrays Ned in the Spider-Man franchise. During the discussion, the two revisited some of the memorable moments from the movies, including the now-famous handshake between Ned and Peter. According to Feige, the handshake was not originally part of the script or something specifically planned by Marvel. Instead, it was an idea developed by Batalon and Tom Holland while they were working together on Spider-Man: Homecoming. Feige recalled that during the production of the 2016 movie, Holland and Batalon were spending time away from the main set when they came up with the idea. The Marvel executive said he noticed the two young actors approaching director Jon Watts to pitch their idea for a special handshake that could be used between their characters. The actors reportedly wanted their characters to have a unique gesture that reflected the close friendship between Peter and Ned. Watts agreed to let them try the idea, and the handshake eventually became part of the movie. What started as a simple idea between two young actors went on to become one of the most recognizable friendship moments in the Spider-Man franchise. The gesture helped strengthen the bond between Peter and Ned on screen while also giving their friendship a playful and distinctive identity. Feige credited both Holland and Batalon for creating the moment and thanked Batalon for helping bring the idea to life. His comments highlighted how some of the most memorable moments in major superhero franchises can emerge naturally from the chemistry between actors rather than being carefully planned from the beginning. Batalon has played Ned alongside Holland’s Peter Parker throughout the recent Spider-Man films, becoming an important part of the character’s journey. Their friendship has provided several lighter moments within the superhero stories, with Ned often serving as Peter’s trusted friend and supporter. The revelation also offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at how Spider-Man: Homecoming developed some of its most memorable details. While the films feature elaborate action sequences and carefully constructed storylines, small creative decisions from the cast can sometimes become just as memorable. The Spider-Man franchise continues to remain one of Marvel’s most successful properties, with fans eagerly following updates about its next chapter. The upcoming projects are expected to further expand Peter Parker’s story and introduce audiences to new developments in his superhero journey. For fans who have followed Peter and Ned since their first appearance together, the story behind the handshake adds another layer to one of the franchise’s most beloved friendship moments. What began as a spontaneous idea between Holland and Batalon ultimately became an enduring part of the Spider-Man movies.

Faisal Qureshi defends Hania Aamir’s rising star power

Pakistani actor Faisal Qureshi has openly supported actress Hania Aamir’s growing popularity and commercial value, saying there is nothing wrong with the actress demanding a higher fee for brand collaborations. During a recent podcast appearance, Faisal was asked about Hania’s increasing influence in Pakistan’s entertainment industry and her growing presence in major advertising campaigns. In response, the veteran actor praised the actress and acknowledged that she has established herself as one of the country’s most recognisable stars. Faisal pointed out that Hania’s face can currently be seen across the country on billboards, signboards and various advertising campaigns. According to him, the fact that major companies continue to choose Hania to represent their products is a clear indication of her strong market position and popularity. Calling her a star, Faisal said that Hania has reached a stage in her career where leading brands are interested in associating their names with her. He suggested that her widespread visibility is not simply the result of her television and film projects but also reflects the strong connection she has built with audiences. The actor further explained that Hania is aware of her current position in the entertainment industry. With her popularity continuing to rise, brands are also aware of her market value and the attention she can bring to their campaigns. Faisal also defended Hania against criticism over reports that she charges a higher fee for brand endorsements. He argued that an artist’s fee naturally increases when their demand and commercial appeal grow. According to Faisal, there is no reason for an artist to feel guilty about asking for a higher payment when their popularity has increased significantly. He suggested that fees are often determined by an artist’s demand in the market, their ability to attract audiences and the value they bring to a commercial campaign. His comments come at a time when Hania Aamir has become one of the most prominent young faces in Pakistan’s entertainment and advertising industries. The actress has developed a substantial fan following through her television projects and social media presence, while her public image has also made her a sought-after choice for major brands. Faisal’s remarks highlight the changing dynamics of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, where an actor’s commercial value is increasingly influenced by their visibility, digital following and overall popularity. By supporting Hania’s decision to charge according to her market value, Faisal emphasised that successful artists should be able to benefit from the demand they have created. His comments also suggest that higher fees can be viewed as a natural outcome of an artist reaching a stronger position within the industry rather than as a matter of controversy.
