“ALL IS FORGIVEN” New Lanterns Footage Is Officially Getting DC Fans on Board Ahead of New Trailer

With last summer’s Superman, James Gunn’s DCU movie not only introduced a brand new take on the Man of Steel to the world but also a slew of other iconic characters. Obviously, a new Lex Luthor made his debut, but other heroes like Supergirl made a splash too. The film also revealed the DCU’s first Green Lantern, with Nathan Fillion taking on the role of noted hothead Guy Gardner. This take on the character quickly revealed a version of the hero that had previously only satisfied fans in the pages of comics and in cartoons, with the less said about the last Green Lantern movie, the better.

A year later, the DCU is not only set to expand the scope of Green Lanterns in its own cinematic universe, but finally deliver a new live-action take on that corner of the comics. That said, the upcoming Lanterns TV series for HBO has had major question marks lingering over it for fans. Though there’s been real hype for it thanks to Kyle Chandler being cast as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, criticisms have mounted. New footage from the show has arrived ahead of its full trailer debut, and the tide may finally be turning.

New Lanterns Footage Finally Gets DC Fans Excited

The new footage is brief, but explosive. Not only does it show us a glimpse of one of the lanterns actually charging their ring with the power battery, but also some other literal explosive moments. It’s no surprise that what we got today was only a sliver of footage, and largely action-oriented at that, but the official Lanterns panel at San Diego Comic-Con will debut tomorrow afternoon, with the full trailer set to debut publicly too.

Despite concern from fans previously that Lanterns was too dark, didn’t have enough “green,” and that the heroes weren’t wearing their iconic suits have dominated the conversation around the show ahead of its premiere. It makes sense why fans would have those reservations, though, but it’s worth noting that the previously released footage were just teaser trailers, meaning the visual effects for the shows were clearly unfinished at the time of their release. Based on the footage debuted today, it’s clear a lot of them ARE done, and fans have noticed.

“HOLY TRINITY, THIS LOOKS GOOD. ALL IS FORGIVEN 😭🙏🤍🐦‍🔥,” one user wrote in reply to the footage. “AS A GL FAN I’M HAPPY ASH”

“This looks epic as hell, show of the year incoming,” wrote another fan.

“Yesterday was the Clayface trailer. Tomorrow Lanterns trailer. James Gunn really out here feeding us 🔥,” wrote an ecstatic DC fan.

Though this is far from the only response to the footage, there are just as many Marvel fans making note that they’re more excited for what’s coming from the House of Ideas, while others are still clinging to how the Green Lantern was briefly portrayed in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. In any event, the world will get a fresh look at this new take on the Green Lantern mythology tomorrow, and the series will premiere this August on HBO.
