Dusky leaf monkey shows signs of recovery after electric shock
A dusky leaf monkey injured by a severe electric shock in Prachuap Khiri Khan is showing encouraging signs of recovery, according to wildlife officials.
Mr Nitthas Nunson, director of Protected Areas Regional Office 3 in Phetchaburi, said the one-year-old female monkey had stabilised after being found badly injured on 11 April near Khao Tamonglai Forest Park, within the grounds of Wing 5 in Ko Lak subdistrict.
Dusky leaf monkey recovery improves under treatment
The monkey is being treated at the Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Centre in Cha-am, where staff have reported increased movement, improved feeding and stronger responses to her surroundings.
Veterinarians said her facial burn wounds are beginning to heal, with no signs of infection. Her right eye is now about 50 per cent open, while the left has started to open slightly.
Treatment includes regular wound cleaning, burn care, antibiotics, pain relief and intravenous fluids. She remains under close observation as her recovery continues.
