Hua Hin celebrates Pride 2026 with beach run and message of equality
Hua Hin marked Pride Month on Saturday morning with a 3km beach walk-run and a message of support for equality, inclusion and the city’s growing appeal as an international tourism destination.
On Saturday morning, former Deputy Prime Minister Suwat Liptapanlop opened the event, launching a 3km health walk-run.
The event, titled “Pride 2026 The Gentle Rainbow”, took place at The Square, Bluport Hua Hin, under the theme “The Gentle Rainbow: Softly Proud, Deeply Well”.
The Pride Flow Run attracted participants from the public and private sectors, local residents and tourists. The activity was organised to promote health, support tourism and strengthen Hua Hin’s image as a destination that welcomes people of all backgrounds.
Mr Suwat said this year marked the third time Pride had been held in Hua Hin and said the event reflected cooperation between Hua Hin Municipality, the tourism sector, Bluport Hua Hin and other partners.
He said the growing turnout showed wider public support for equality and inclusion.
“This year, more people have joined the event than in previous years. They come from different occupations, age groups and gender identities, but everyone is taking part on the basis of equality and fairness. These are values that allow everyone to share happiness together,” Mr Suwat said.
Mr Prateep Boriboonrat, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, also attended the event, along with representatives from several organisations.
Bluport Hua Hin Pride 2026 also highlighted the impact of Thailand’s marriage equality law, which came into effect in January 2025.
According to figures cited at the event, around 26,000 same-sex couples have registered their marriages since the law took effect. These include about 20,000 female-female couples and 6,000 male-male couples.
Mr Suwat said the law had helped improve quality of life for many people and strengthened Thailand’s image as a modern and inclusive country.
He added that the government was continuing to work on related secondary laws to further support equality.
Organisers said the event was also intended to support Hua Hin’s tourism economy by presenting the town as an international destination open to diversity and inclusive tourism.
