Hua Hin receives national environmental health award

Hua Hin recognised at EHA Excellence Awards

Hua Hin City Municipality has received an EHA Excellence Awards plaque recognising it as a model local administrative organisation for environmental health services.

The award was presented during Thai Environmental Health Day 2026, held on 3 July at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok. The event was organised by the Ministry of Public Health and the Department of Health under the theme “Scaling Up Environmental Health for a Low-Carbon Society and Better Well-Being”.

Dr Sophon Iamsirithaworn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, chaired the opening ceremony on behalf of Dr Somruek Chungsaman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health.

The event was attended by Dr Amporn Benjaponpitak, Director-General of the Department of Health, Dr Naresrit Kadtaseema, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Health, senior health officials and network partners.

Thai Environmental Health Day is marked annually on 4 July. This year’s event also included a blessing ceremony to mark the birthday anniversary of Professor Dr Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana.

Environmental health work recognised

Officials said the event aimed to raise awareness of environmental health management and encourage cooperation across all sectors.

The Department of Health highlighted work in areas including waste and sewage management, food and drinking water quality, healthy environments for people of all ages, and the development of low-carbon public health facilities through the GREEN & CLEAN Hospital project.

The department also presented awards to organisations, hospitals, local authorities and village health volunteers recognised for environmental health work.

Mr Atichat Chaisri, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, received the EHA Excellence Awards plaque on behalf of the municipality from Dr Naresrit.

The award recognises local administrative organisations that have shown strong management and development of environmental health service systems in line with national standards.

Officials said Hua Hin City Municipality was recognised as a model organisation that can serve as an example for other local authorities seeking to improve environmental health services.

Also attending the ceremony were Chief Petty Officer First Class Likit Noonin, Deputy Municipal Clerk of Hua Hin City Municipality, Mr Phoomirin Sukprasert, acting head of the Environmental Quality Control and Management Division, and officials from the municipality’s Public Health and Environment Department.
