Khao Takiab crab bank receives municipal support

Deputy Mayor and Council President Support Crab Bank at Khao Takiab

At 10:00 a.m. on March 9, 2026, Ms. Phailin Kongpan, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin Municipality, together with Mr. Cheep Suksri, President of the Municipal Council, and Ms. Nuengruethai Sukchan, Deputy Municipal Clerk, brought Mr. Rungroj Nooklib, a former lecturer from Wang Klai Kangwon Vocational College in Hua Hin, to repair the solar power system at the Khao Takiab Blue Swimming Crab Bank.

The crab bank is managed by Mr. Sakchai Thonghiang (Tai Juk), who is responsible for breeding egg-bearing blue swimming crabs in cages before releasing them back into the sea.

The solar energy system helps reduce electricity costs for the facility from around 6,000 baht per month to just over 3,000 baht.

Ms. Phailin said that Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutikul places great importance on the Khao Takiab Crab Bank project. “Tai Juk plays a vital role in helping blue swimming crabs reproduce and return to the waters off Hua Hin Bay. These crabs then grow and become a sustainable resource for local fishermen and a seafood delicacy enjoyed by tourists.”

On this occasion, the team also arranged for the former electrical engineering lecturer to repair the solar power control system, ensuring that the crab breeding station can continue operating effectively.
