Magical Mongolia: New music project with Hua Hin links released on global platforms
A new international music collaboration with links to Hua Hin has been released on digital platforms worldwide, bringing together Thai, Mongolian and international artists under the title “Magical Mongolia”.
The soundtrack was created by The Isan Project, a long-running music and video initiative led by Executive Producer Will Robinson, who is based in Hua Hin. The project has gained recognition over the past decade for blending western musical styles with traditional Thai instruments and promoting tourism through its releases.
Will first launched The Isan Project eleven years ago, producing two albums in Bangkok. One of the project’s songs, “Thailand Amazing Thailand”, has become popular on social media, particularly among tourists visiting the country.
The idea for “Magical Mongolia” followed Robinson’s visit to Mongolia, where he was invited to attend the Ara Folk Festival in Arkhangai Province. After spending time with local musicians and cultural figures, he returned to the capital, Ulaanbaatar, where further meetings helped shape the concept for the new track.
Will said the experience quickly translated into creative output. He wrote the lyrics shortly after returning to the city and shared the concept with his co-writer Daniel Ryan.
He said: “It was a start of a great international collaboration with Mongolian artists, thanks to Mongolian co-producer Demi Batmunkh Suren. I arranged the song in Thailand with Daniel, we made a demo and the idea really worked well, then Demi recorded legendary Mongolian artists ‘The Baatar’, ‘Badma Badamkhand’, and ‘Batzorig Vaanchig’ in Ulaanbaatar at New Nomad Records, and we added drums by Erik Hargrove in Singapore and Livingstone Brown on guitars and Disney vocalist Sonia Rele in London, the soundtrack was finally mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios, London.”
The Isan Project has previously received encouragement from former Minister of Tourism and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat and has focused on using music and video content to support tourism promotion in Thailand and the wider region.
In addition to “Magical Mongolia”, the project is also working on new releases, including a track titled “One Love Asean” and another concept centred on tourism called “I love my life in the sun”.
“Magical Mongolia” is now available on all major digital music platforms.
