Marble attacks on vehicles spread to Prachuap Khiri Khan
Motorists have been warned to take extra care after reports of marbles being fired at vehicles at night spread from Phetchaburi to Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The warning follows a Facebook post by a user named “Korked Jiamsakul”, who shared images of a damaged vehicle window and said similar incidents previously reported in Phetchaburi had now reached Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The images showed the driver’s side window of a vehicle shattered, with a hole in the glass. A marble was also pictured and is believed to have been fired from a slingshot by an unknown offender.
The latest incident reportedly took place at about 4.10am on 2 June in the Khao Khan Kradai area of Ao Noi subdistrict, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
According to the post, a friend of the Facebook user was driving a pickup truck carrying seafood to the South when the vehicle was struck. The driver said the marble appeared to come from the central reservation before hitting the driver’s side window with force.
The impact left a hole in the glass and caused cracks to spread across a wide area of the window. The driver was not injured and was able to keep control of the vehicle.
The incident left the driver shaken, but he did not immediately file a police report because he had to continue the delivery. He said any delay could have damaged the seafood being transported. The driver planned to report the incident after completing the delivery.
Similar marble attacks reported in Phetchaburi
A similar warning was posted on 26 May by the Facebook page “SK Ekachai 76 incident coordination point”.
That incident reportedly took place at about 3.17am on 25 May in Khao Yoi district, Phetchaburi. The victim had parked beside the parallel road along Phetkasem Road to rest when a marble was fired at the vehicle window, causing the glass to shatter and leaving a hole.
The page also claimed that several other motorists in Phetchaburi had been targeted in similar incidents.
The reports have raised concern because of the similar pattern, with marbles being fired at vehicle windows at night. Whether the incidents were caused by reckless behaviour or deliberate intent, police and road safety officials have been urged to investigate.
Such attacks pose a serious risk to motorists, particularly if drivers lose control of their vehicles after being struck.
Motorists travelling on affected routes, especially at night, have been urged to remain alert. Local authorities and police have also been asked to consider additional checks and preventive measures to help protect road users.
