Prachuap Town announces Songkran schedule for seaside festival

Prachuap Town Songkran celebrations will take place on 13 April as local officials confirmed the schedule for this year’s large-scale water festival along the town’s seafront.

Mayor Kamol Kaewthet of Prachuap Town Municipality announced details of the event following a joint planning meeting with municipal executives, council members, senior officials, community leaders and residents. The meeting, held at the municipal office on 24 March, focused on preparations for the 2026 Songkran festivities, which will be staged in front of Saranwithi Bridge along the coastal road.

The festival, titled “Midday Songkran, Happy Until Midnight #3”, is being organised to help preserve Thai cultural traditions while encouraging people of all ages to take part in merit-making and community celebrations. Municipal officials said the event is also intended to promote unity among residents and foster appreciation of local customs and heritage.

Activities will begin in the morning with a merit-making ceremony, during which participants will offer dry food and rice to monks on Saranwithi Bridge. A colourful Songkran parade is then scheduled to travel along Tessaban Bamrung Road and through several streets within the municipal area.

Visitors will also be able to join a traditional Buddha bathing ritual and pay their respects to elderly community members at the Tourism and Sports Division area.

The water-splashing festivities are set to start with the opening of a dedicated “fountain tunnel” water zone, which will operate during both daytime and evening hours. Organisers said the zone is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable space for residents and tourists to take part in the Prachuap Town Songkran celebrations.

Entertainment throughout the day and into the night will include performances by local school students, as well as live music from the AG Combo band and the Tammarine band.

Municipal officials have invited residents and visitors to join the event on the stated date, describing it as an opportunity to experience both traditional and modern aspects of Songkran in Prachuap town.
