Public bus routes in Hua Hin discussed by city officials
Hua Hin City Municipality is moving ahead with discussions on public bus routes in Hua Hin, as officials consider ways to improve transport links for residents and visitors.
A meeting on the proposed route development was held on 5 May at Hua Hin City Municipality. Mr Sanphop Ungratsamee, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, chaired the meeting after being assigned by the mayor.
The meeting was attended by Mr Kittipong Siripetchkasem, President of the Hua Hin-Cha Am Tourism Business Association; Pol Col Samer Yusamran, adviser to the mayor; Mr Jeerawat Pramanee, Municipal Clerk; Mr Kunthee Kaewma, Director of the Tourism and Sports Division; and Mr Siam Sombatthong, Head of the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
The meeting took place in the Chom Sin meeting room at Hua Hin City Municipality.
Public bus routes proposed from Hua Hin Railway Station
During the meeting, Mr Kittipong presented a proposed model for public bus routes in Hua Hin, with Hua Hin Railway Station designated as the starting point.
The proposed network would cover four main directions: north, south, east and west. The routes are intended to connect key parts of the city, including educational institutions, tourist attractions and communities.
Officials said the proposal is aimed at making travel more convenient for both local residents and tourists, while also supporting the city’s role as a major tourism destination.
The plan forms part of wider efforts to improve public transport in Hua Hin, where many residents and visitors rely on private vehicles, taxis, motorcycle taxis, songthaews and app-based transport services to get around.
Real-time app planned for public transport
The proposal also includes the use of technology to improve the passenger experience.
An application would be developed to allow users to check bus schedules in real time. Officials said this would help reduce waiting times and make it easier for passengers to plan their journeys.
The use of real-time information is also intended to improve the efficiency of the proposed public transport system and make bus services more accessible to people unfamiliar with the routes.
Next steps for the Hua Hin bus plan
The meeting assigned the Director of the Tourism and Sports Division to gather full information on the proposed routes before presenting the plan to the municipality’s executive team.
The municipality will also seek views from the public and relevant agencies before moving forward. These are expected to include Hua Hin Police Station, the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Transport Office and public bus operators.
Officials said the process would help shape a practical transport plan that reflects the needs of residents, businesses, tourists and transport providers.
The municipality said the development of public bus routes is part of its work to create a more modern, convenient and safe public transport system for Hua Hin.
