Hua Hin to inspect beach activities and rental firms
Hua Hin City Municipality is preparing to inspect tourist services, including beach activities and vehicle rental businesses, as officials look to strengthen safety and consumer protection measures.
The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Consumer Protection Subcommittee of Hua Hin City Municipality on 5 May. The meeting was chaired by Mr Sanphop Ungratsamee, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality.
Also attending were Mr Jeerawat Pramanee, Municipal Clerk; Mr Siam Sombatthong, Head of the Office of the Municipal Clerk; and members of the subcommittee. The meeting was held in the Legal Affairs Division meeting room on the fourth floor of Building 2 at Hua Hin City Municipality.
The meeting reviewed the work of the Hua Hin City Municipality Consumer Protection Centre for the 2025 fiscal year, as well as complaint statistics for the 2026 fiscal year.
Officials also discussed plans to inspect car and motorcycle rental businesses. The checks will be used to compile preliminary information on operators, in line with government policy.

The municipality said the work would help create a clearer database of rental businesses operating in Hua Hin and support consumer protection measures for residents and visitors.
Safety along Hua Hin beach was also raised during the meeting, following reports that tourists were injured while using water sports equipment during the recent holiday period.
Officials discussed the need for clearer safety measures covering beach activities and equipment used by operators along the shoreline.
As an initial step, Hua Hin City Municipality will call a meeting with relevant agencies and beach operators to agree on safety measures for tourists.
The municipality also plans to collect information and carry out inspections of all types of beach activity equipment.
The measures are expected to cover tourism-related services used by both Thai and foreign visitors, particularly during busy holiday periods when beach activities and vehicle rentals are in higher demand.
The municipality has not yet announced a date for the inspections or confirmed what action may be taken if operators fail to meet safety requirements.
