Steve Lacy seemingly reveals Sadie Sink’s Spider-Man role

Fans of Sadie Sink may have finally received an answer about her mysterious role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, after musician Steve Lacy appeared to accidentally reveal a major detail during the film’s red-carpet premiere. The moment quickly went viral online, with Marvel fans speculating that Sink could be portraying Jean Grey, one of the most iconic characters from the X-Men universe.
Marvel Studios has kept Sink’s role under wraps since her casting was announced, fuelling months of fan theories. The actress, best known for her performances in Stranger Things and The Whale, has not publicly commented on her character, while the studio has also remained silent.
However, during Monday’s premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Steve Lacy, who contributed the song oh yeah? to the film’s soundtrack, appeared to let the secret slip while speaking to reporters on the red carpet.
When asked which character he was most excited for audiences to see, Lacy replied, “You know, what? Jean.”
He then added, “I like Jean. She’s the villain but there’s a reason to her madness.” (Geo News)
The interviewer appeared surprised by the answer and immediately asked whether Lacy had just spoiled Sadie Sink’s role in the film. Rather than clarifying his remarks, the musician simply responded, “I like her. I like her character. I don’t know why.”
Although Lacy never directly mentioned Sink’s name, many fans interpreted his reference to Jean as confirmation that the actress is playing Jean Grey, the powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men comics. The possibility has been widely discussed online since Sink joined the cast earlier this year.
The apparent revelation quickly spread across social media platform X, where users reacted with humour and disbelief. Many joked that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would not be pleased with the accidental disclosure.
One fan wrote, “The cameraman witnessing Feige beating the shit out of Steve Lacy in the back.”
Another commented, “Bro was asked to answer without spoiling anything and failed in under 5 seconds.”
A third user argued that the surprise had already become difficult to keep secret, writing, “It’s a spoiler, but at the same time it’s not because who doesn’t know the Jean Grey in the movie. They did a terrible job keeping the secret under wraps.”
Another fan joked, “Kevin Feige will be coming for him.”
Neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures has commented on Lacy’s remarks, and Sink has also remained silent regarding the speculation. Until the filmmakers officially confirm the casting, fans will have to wait to see whether the musician genuinely revealed one of the movie’s biggest secrets or whether his comments were misunderstood.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 31 July 2026. With excitement already running high ahead of its release, Lacy’s comments have only intensified speculation about how the Marvel Cinematic Universe may introduce the X-Men through Sadie Sink’s mysterious character.

The local bullion market remained relatively calm after gold recorded a notable increase in the previous trading session. On Monday, the price of gold had risen by Rs2,000 per tola, bringing it to Rs461,936. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also remained unchanged at Rs396,035 on Tuesday. In the international market, gold prices showed little movement, with the benchmark rate standing at $4,395 per ounce, including a $20 premium. The stability in global bullion prices contributed to the lack of significant movement in domestic gold rates. Market participants continue to closely monitor international developments, particularly movements in the US dollar, expectations surrounding global interest rates and geopolitical developments, all of which can influence demand for the precious metal. Meanwhile, silver prices moved in the opposite direction in the domestic market. The price of silver declined by Rs43 per tola, settling at Rs6,986 per tola.

GCU Lahore goes fully paperless in major digital s…

LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) Lahore has officially moved its administrative operations to a fully paperless digital system, marking a major step towards modernising governance and reducing reliance on traditional office files. The transformation has been achieved through the implementation of the e-Filing and Office Automation System, a cloud-based digital platform developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The system has been provided to the university free of cost under special directions from the Punjab government, according to university officials. Under the new framework, administrative processes across GCU’s departments will now be handled online through a single digital platform. Routine matters such as leave applications, travel permissions, annual performance reports, official orders and departmental correspondence can now be processed electronically. The university said the system would also cover digital note sheets for proposals between departments, approval of payments for visiting faculty, purchase requests and agendas for departmental meetings. No more files moving from desk to desk One of the most significant changes will be the elimination of the traditional practice of physically moving files from one office to another. Instead, officials will be able to create, review, approve and track documents digitally through the cloud-based platform. This is expected to improve administrative efficiency while making it easier to monitor the progress of official matters. GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Umar Chaudhry described the transition as more than an environmental initiative, saying digital governance was essential for a modern educational institution. He said moving administrative affairs away from paper would strengthen transparency, speed and accountability, while reducing delays associated with manual file tracking. According to the vice chancellor, removing routine administrative delays would allow faculty members and heads of departments to devote more time to teaching and research. Part of wider digital transformation The university said the paperless initiative is part of a broader digitalisation drive launched during the previous academic year under the vice chancellor’s leadership. Before implementing the complete e-office system, GCU had introduced online approval mechanisms for student society events and digital billing for payments to visiting faculty members. The administration is now preparing to take the process further with the planned launch of a comprehensive e-Services Portal. The upcoming platform is expected to streamline requests related to campus maintenance and other facilities. Officials hope the system will allow infrastructure-related problems to be reported and addressed more quickly without disrupting academic activities. Alumni records also going digital GCU’s digital reforms are not limited to current campus operations. The university is also working on a major project to digitise the records of its alumni, expanding technology-based management beyond day-to-day administration. The move towards a paperless campus could ultimately reduce paperwork, improve record management and provide university officials with faster access to important information. With administrative processes increasingly moving online, GCU Lahore is positioning itself as an example of how Pakistan’s public-sector universities can use digital technology to make governance faster, more transparent and more efficient.

Trump threatens to declare Strait of Hormuz US territory amid ongoing Iran conflict

US President Donald Trump has threatened to declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory as his administration struggles to conclude the war with Iran nearly six months into the conflict. Speaking during a speech at a police academy on Long Island, New York, Trump stated that he would soon designate the strategic waterway as US territory, pointing to the ongoing American blockade of Iranian shipping and ports as justification. The Strait of Hormuz serves as a crucial chokepoint for global trade, through which approximately a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil supplies typically pass, and it remains an internationally navigable strait bordered by Iran and Oman. Responding to the statements on social media, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi rejected the claims, asserting that Tehran would not be intimidated by threats or a show of force, and maintaining that the opening or closing of the strait remains strictly under Iranian authority. The ongoing conflict has driven a sharp rise in global fuel prices, forcing working Americans to pay significantly more at the pump. Trump defended the higher costs during his address, arguing that paying extra for gasoline is acceptable to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, peace talks between the two nations remain at an impasse, with Tehran steadfastly refusing to reopen the waterway unless the US completely lifts sanctions, compensates Iran for war damage, and unconditionally releases its frozen assets.

Ryan Reynolds fuels Deadpool comeback rumours at Comic-Con

Ryan Reynolds thrilled Marvel fans with a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, sparking fresh speculation that Deadpool could feature in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The 49-year-old actor made an unexpected entrance during Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation on Saturday, delighting the audience by appearing in an unusual version of Deadpool’s iconic costume. Instead of the character’s signature red-and-black suit, Reynolds wore a denim outfit, playfully calling it a “Canadian tuxedo.” Remaining fully in character, Reynolds introduced himself as “Ricky” while pretending to be an enthusiastic fan attending the panel. “Huge fan, look at that cast. I’m not wearing the Doom mask over this mask because I didn’t want to ruin the look of my Canadian tuxedo. My name is Ricky, that’s a mononym, like Cher or Madonna, and I’m just cosplaying hard,” he joked, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. The humorous moment quickly shifted toward the much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. Reynolds jokingly asked whether there was still room for him in the film, fueling rumors that Deadpool could make an appearance despite no official announcement from Marvel Studios. Robert Downey Jr., who was also part of the panel, played along with the joke and teased Reynolds by saying the movie had already completed filming. “It’s in the can, bro. Look around you. Did you bump your head?” Downey Jr. responded, referring to the packed Hall H audience. Without breaking character, Deadpool continued the exchange, asking if there might still be “additional photography, no overages, maybe last-minute additions,” prompting more laughter from fans in attendance. The playful interaction immediately spread across social media, where Marvel fans began debating whether Reynolds had secretly hinted at Deadpool’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. Many viewers interpreted the appearance as a subtle clue that the popular antihero could join the next Avengers adventure. One fan confidently wrote that Reynolds was “100% confirmed” in their eyes, while others speculated that the exchange between Reynolds and Downey Jr. may have contained hidden hints about the film. Not everyone shared the same enthusiasm, however. Some social media users questioned Reynolds’ future in the franchise, while others offered mixed opinions about his Comic-Con appearance and the possibility of Deadpool joining the Avengers lineup. Despite the growing speculation, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed whether Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor’s appearance at Comic-Con appeared to be designed primarily as a comedic surprise, leaving fans guessing about what the future holds for the fan-favorite character. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026. The highly anticipated superhero film will be the 39th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and continues the saga that followed Avengers: Endgame. With anticipation continuing to build, fans are eagerly awaiting official announcements about the movie’s complete cast and any surprise appearances that may still be revealed before its release.

Pakistan swimmers struggle again at Commonwealth Games

Pakistan’s disappointing run in swimming continued on the second day of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. All four Pakistani swimmers competing on Saturday failed to advance beyond the heats in their respective events. In the women’s 200-metre freestyle, Jehan Ara Nabi finished 29th among 36 competitors. She recorded a time of 2 minutes and 11.16 seconds. Her performance was not enough to secure a place in the final. Ahmed Durrani competed in the men’s 400-metre freestyle. He completed the race in 4 minutes and 14.85 seconds. He finished 22nd among 27 swimmers. As a result, he could not qualify for the final. Hamza Asif took part in the men’s 50-metre freestyle. Hareem Malik represented Pakistan in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke. She clocked 1 minute and 22.51 seconds. She finished 27th among 28 swimmers. Her result also ended her campaign in the event as she failed to qualify for the semi-finals. The results added to a difficult start for Pakistan’s swimming team at the Games. None of the four swimmers competing on the second day managed to move into the next stage of their events. Durrani and Jehan Ara Nabi had also failed to advance beyond the heats on the opening day. Their second-day performances therefore continued Pakistan’s struggle to make progress in the swimming competition. Pakistan is competing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a 36-member contingent. The national athletes are taking part in different sporting events and are seeking strong performances against competitors from across the Commonwealth. For the Pakistani swimmers, however, the opening days in Glasgow have proved challenging. The national contingent will now look to its remaining athletes and events for improved results as Pakistan continues its campaign at the Games.
