THE BARAI Hua Hin has opened on the Khao Takiap coastline, marking the debut of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Thailand.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of the 98-room beachfront wellness resort, which brings together Thai healing traditions, locally inspired design and the spirit of Sanook, the Thai expression for the joy of living.
Set on one of Hua Hin’s most historic stretches of coast, the resort marks a new chapter for THE BARAI, which first opened as a spa 20 years ago and has since built an international reputation for wellness and restorative treatments.
A new wellness resort on Hua Hin’s Khao Takiap coast
Long before wellness retreats became a global trend, Hua Hin was already known as a place of rest and recovery.
Once a quiet fishing village known as Ban Samor Riang, the town became a favoured seaside escape for Siamese nobility in the early 20th century. Its coastline, sea breeze and relaxed pace helped shape the understated elegance that still defines Hua Hin today.
Drawing on that heritage, THE BARAI Hua Hin has been expanded from an acclaimed spa into a boutique beachfront resort designed around rest, movement, spa rituals, dining and time by the sea.

Guests staying at the resort can also visit nearby natural attractions including Kui Buri National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and Phraya Nakhon Cave.
Thai-inspired design and wellness
The design of THE BARAI Hua Hin and its spa draws on the elements of water, fire, earth and air.
Architect Lek Mathar Bunnag has reinterpreted Thai heritage through a contemporary design approach, using shaded corridors, sculptural forms, courtyards and water features to create a calm and reflective atmosphere.
The resort has two swimming pools: the Forest Pool, a shaded lagoon-style pool at the centre of the resort, and the Beach Pool, which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand.
Accommodation includes 98 guest rooms and suites, among them 27 suites and two two-bedroom penthouses. Each room has been designed to frame the surrounding tropical landscape, with open living spaces, large private balconies, deep soaking tubs and rainforest showers.
Higher-category suites include butler service, larger terraces, in-suite rituals and daily massage inclusions for guests looking for greater privacy and a more personalised stay.
At the heart of the resort is THE BARAI Spa, whose name comes from ancient barays, reservoirs that once supported daily life in historic empires.
Wellness facilities also include a two-storey Wellness Hub with a 24-hour fitness studio, yoga studio, holistic zone and wellness shop.
Programmes are based around the resort’s elemental philosophy, with Earth representing grounding, Water representing release, Air representing vitality and Fire representing momentum.
Signature wellness pathways include women’s health, sleep recovery, back care, longevity, emotional wellbeing and heart health. Each programme includes a personalised wellness map.
The Wellness Hub is guided by CM.D. Chuthamat Srinoi, known as Dr Cash, an integrated wellness practitioner whose work combines traditional Chinese medicine, sound vibration, energy healing and mindful art.
Dining with a sense of Hua Hin heritage
THE BARAI Hua Hin offers two dining venues led by Chef Benn Rowe, whose career has included kitchens in Australia and Thailand.
White Cottage takes inspiration from the seaside summer houses once built by Siamese nobility, as well as Ban Chom Khluen, meaning “Seeing the Wave”. The restaurant serves breakfast before later becoming a dining venue focused on fresh seafood, plant-forward dishes and Thai-inspired flavours.
McFarland House is set in a restored 19th-century beachfront pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
Once the seaside retreat of Dr George Bradley McFarland, a noted figure in Thailand’s medical and educational history, the venue now serves Modern European cuisine, grilled meats, weekday afternoon tea and Sunday brunch.
The Unbound Collection by Hyatt arrives in Thailand
The opening of THE BARAI Hua Hin marks the first property in Thailand for The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.
The brand focuses on independent hotels with a strong sense of character and connection to their surroundings. In Hua Hin, the resort’s identity is shaped by wellness, architecture, nature, local heritage and the Thai spirit of Sanook.
