Beat on Track aerobics event draws hundreds to Hua Hin Railway Station

More than 500 people joined the Beat on Track aerobics event at Hua Hin Railway Station on Saturday evening, 23 May, as Hua Hin City Municipality staged a public fitness activity at one of the city’s best-known landmarks.

The event, held at the old Hua Hin Railway Station, was opened by Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul. It was also attended by Deputy Mayor Busaba Choksuchart, Pol Col Samoe Yusamran, adviser to the mayor, Jirawan Boonrit, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, and Kitipong Siriphetkasem, President of the Hua Hin-Cha-am Tourism Business Association.

The activity, held under the name “Beat on Track: Dancing to the rhythm by the rails”, featured professional dance instructors leading participants through a series of group exercise routines.

Beat on Track brings fitness groups together

Hua Hin City Municipality organised the event in response to the growing popularity of outdoor aerobics and dance-based exercise across Thailand.

The session brought together local dance leaders, fitness groups and residents who regularly take part in zumba, aerobics, baslop and line dancing.

Organisers said the aim was to encourage more people to exercise while creating a lively public activity that could also appeal to visitors.

The railway station was chosen as the venue because of its importance as a Hua Hin landmark. The event drew interest from tourists and passers-by, many of whom stopped to watch the large group session.

Hua Hin promotes health and wellness

Mr Nopporn said health and wellness activities continue to gain popularity as more people focus on physical and mental wellbeing.

He said the recent viral popularity of outdoor aerobics at Lumpini Park in Bangkok showed how public exercise activities can help bring communities together.

The municipality sees similar activities as part of Hua Hin’s development as a healthier city, where residents, local groups and public agencies play a role in improving quality of life.

Mr Nopporn said events such as Beat on Track help promote physical fitness while also creating a stronger sense of community.
