Here’s xiaomi 18 series launch date set with specs and colours teased

As expected, Xiaomi has announced that its new range of flagship Android phones will launch this week, teasing what’s in store.

The official event date is 23 September at 7pm in China. Xiaomi confirmed this on Weibo while also showing the 18 Pro in white along with a Galaxy Blue model with a night sky effect (it’ll also come in black).

“A dual-size flagship with advanced imaging technology, boasting comprehensive upgrades, a new versatile back screen for greater practicality and intelligence, and the debut of the new Xiaomi HyperOS 4,” said the firm (translated).

The launch date matches up with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, which kicks off tomorrow. It’s thought the Xiaomi 18 Pro models will come with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and could be the first to arrive with it.

Xiaomi has also announced a number of specs and features about the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max phones ahead of time:

  • Leica dual 200MP ultra-clear imaging system
  • Narrow 0.99mm screen bezel
  • New generation of super pixel screens
  • New M11 luminescent system
  • 4000 nit peak brightness
  • 7000mAh (Pro) and 8500mAh (Pro Max) batteries

One of the key selling points is that screen on the rear. This was on the 17 Pro models, but Xiaomi has upgraded it this year, calling it a “brand-new, versatile back screen” and you’ll reportedly be able to create your own apps to use on it.

Rivalling the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the phones will have a hardware-level privacy screen at the front.

The good news and bad

All of this is setting the Xiaomi 18 series up for a tasty launch. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that there are a number of caveats for us in the West.

The phones are unlikely to launch in the US and in the UK and Europe, it’s unclear which ones we’ll get. Like Oppo, Xiaomi is dropping the camera-focused Ultra model.

It’s a shame but means we are more likely to see the launch of at least one Pro model, bringing us a rear screen for the first time. With the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max looking set for a UK launch, Xiaomi may follow suit.

There should also be a regular Xiaomi 18 as the cheapest option and that should be a given really.

The good news here is marred by the fact that we’ll have to wait a long time for these handsets. Typically, Xiaomi waits until MWC for its Western/Global launch and it takes place in March 2027.
