What to Know About motorola teases its iPhone Duo rival
Motorola has confirmed that it’s indeed working on a wide foldable in the wake of Apple’s iPhone Duo announcement.
Earlier in the week we brought you news of leaked sketches for a new Motorola foldable. Unlike the Motorola Razr Fold, this particular book-style foldable appears to be taking the iPhone Duo (or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, to give the first-to-market model its due) as its inspiration.
That means a shorter, wider foldable that resembles a passport when closed, and a mini iPad when open.
Now Motorola has revealed that such a device is well beyond the design phase. Over on Instagram and X, Motorola’s US account has posted a brief teaser video that alludes both to the recent iPhone Duo announcement (it was posted immediately following Apple’s announcement) and its own new product.
“New in their hands. Iconic in ours” it reads, essentially taking a dig at Apple’s late arrival to the foldable space.
Is that a first glimpse of the Motorola Razr Fold Wide?
The video itself runs through each of Motorola’s hinged devices, starting with the original Razr and running right through to the aforementioned Motorola Razr Fold.
The final product is easy to miss, as it’s on the screen for but a moment. Pause it at the appropriate point, however, and you can clearly see that it’s a book-style foldable that’s smaller and wider than the preceding device.
To the right of the video, there’s some frankly baffling PR spiel: “That feeling when you hang up, and your razr says everything you didn’t.”

I’ve got no idea either. Then, another dig at the iPhone Duo, followed by the promise of a new device: “Some are just discovering it. We’ve been making it even better. Just wait for our next move.”
I’m genuinely interested to see what Motorola has to offer here. As I wrote recently, the company made arguably the best flip phone on the market up until the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra, and the Motorola Razr Fold was an unexpectedly plush and well-balanced delight.
It’s a shame we look set to only get two cameras on Motorola’s wide foldable, but then it’s in good company there.
